Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDZIDRA MIRDZA KURAS (nee FREIVERTS) September 13, 1930 December 23, 2017 With heavy heart, we share the passing of our dear wife, mother and grandmother Dzidra. She leaves to mourn, her husband of 67 years, Albert; children, Ilmars, Perry (Rose), Cindy (Jim) and grandchildren, David and Juliana Vogt and Warren Manners; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended relatives and friends. Dzidra is survived by her sisters, Ruta, Benita (Brian); brothers, Tali, Karlis (Silvija) and Andris. She was predeceased by her parents, Alfred and Natalia; brothers, Gunars, Janis and stepfather Alphonse. Dzidra was born in Ventspils, Latvija and despite the hardships of world war, helped raise her younger siblings. The family was fortunate to escape post war Europe and immigrate to Australia in 1949. Soon after, she met the love of her life, Albert and they married October 15, 1950. Albert managed to convince his new bride, to join his family in Canada and arrived in February 1955. As a working mom, Dzidra dedicated many years in the garment industry and catering business. Albert and Dzidra enjoyed their time at Twin Lakes Beach, MB and Cape Coral, Florida. Our family would like to thank the physicians, nurses and staff at The Saul and Claribelle Simkin Centre for all the comfort and care provided. We remain forever grateful. A service in Dzidra's memory will be held Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul, MB.
