ROY C. TAYLOR (1923 - 2017) On Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at the Selkirk Regional Health Centre, age 94 years, of Selkirk, MB, formerly of Petersfield / Netley, MB. Survived by his wife of 69 years, Frances; sister Thelma Wawryk; sisters-in-law Irene, Rita and Liz Taylor; brother-in-law Gordon (Barb) Kizuik; sisters-in-law, Mildred Kreamer and Murial Kizuik; son Larry (Sharon); daughter Norlene (Ed) MacLeod; grandchildren, Shelly, Kevin, Kristin and Russell; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Mackenzie, Mason, Kaylee and Kevin; many nieces and nephews. Roy was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Winnifred; brothers Tim, Harold and Bill; sister Doris (Dave) Veitch; father and mother-in-law, Nick and Vicky Kizuik; brothers-in-law Peter Wawryk, Tom, George (Lil), and Bill (Norma) Kizuik, and Lorne Kreamer. Roy was born and raised in Netley, MB. He joined the Army in January, 1943, assigned to the Sherbrooke Fusiliers (Tank) Regiment, C.A.C. Serving King & Country from Normandy through France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. Always proud of the fact they had the only tank "Bomb" that made it through the war from D-day to VE-day. Soon after the war he met Frances Kizuik and they married in 1948. He was instrumental in building and starting the 2-sheet Petersfield Curling Club in 1938 and the new 3-sheet rink in 1958. Roy worked as a farmer, the Abex steel foundry in Selkirk and drove fuel truck for Dave Veitch. In 1961, he purchased a dairy herd. After farming retirement Roy drove school bus for LSSD. Keeping with Roy's wishes, cremation has taken place, and private service will be held. Interment of ashes will take place later. Honorary pallbearers will be Roy's nephews, Ivan, Wade, Kerry, Dale, Perry, Brian, Brent, Brad, Mike, Jeff and Derek. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Roy's memory to St. Georges Wakefield Church, Box 219, Clandeboye, R0C 0P0 or the Petersfield Curling Club, Box 455, Petersfield, R0C 2L0.
