Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELEANOR LOEWEN (nee MILNER) Eleanor Loewen (nee Milner) passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on December 26, 2017. Eleanor was born in Regina, Saskatchewan at the beginning of the Great Depression on December 15, 1929. Her family moved to Swan River, Manitoba, where she and her seven siblings all helped with farm chores while their father pastored a small church. Eleanor was predeceased by (parents) Adolph and Martha Milner; (brothers) John and Bert Milner; (sisters) Dorothy and Gerry; and many friends with whom she shared her life. Eleanor is survived by her husband of 66 years, (Walter); sons, (Bill, Ron, Dave and Ed); one brother (Lawrence) and two sisters (Thea and Winnie). She leaves 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. At the age of nine, Eleanor accepted the Lord Jesus as her Saviour and her life demonstrated ever-increasing faith in Him till her death. While raising a family of four boys, Eleanor supported her husband in the development of a rapidly growing business. Eleanor was known to most as a quiet, respectable and peaceful woman, but her family and close friends enjoyed her playful side. She was well-travelled (30 countries) and well-read (especially the Bible and Christian books). Other defining traits included frugality, generosity, compassion, integrity and intuition. As a lover of the outdoors, she helped to develop a Christian retreat facility so others could be spiritually refreshed while enjoying God's creation. Her influence for God's Kingdom will continue to be felt as a result of her work with her church family, Focus on the Family and Teen Challenge and the establishment of a charitable foundation to support Christian causes. A private interment will be conducted at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Winnipeg. A public memorial service will be held in spring (date and venue to be determined). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Gideons. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit www.chapellawn.ca Chapel Lawn Funeral Home 204-885-9715

I took introduction to Ministry with her and Dr. Loewen was an excellent teacher. She sought to make us mentors and leaders. She was an excellent supervised ministry experience leader. - Posted by: Brent Pudsey (Professor at Booth University College ) on: Jun 08, 2019

My prayers to Walter and family. I met Eleanor a few years ago at a Teen Challenge Dinner and again later at Reh Fit Centre. She always greeted me with a smile and always asked how you were. I will keep you in my prayers. - Posted by: Dianne Frost (Friend ) on: Jan 04, 2018

Our condolences to the Loewen family. Eleanor was a kind, gentle, friendly, gracious, and generous woman we highly respected!! We have fond memories of Eleanor as our former Girl Guide leader at First Mennonite Church! The girl guides all enjoyed the various outings with her and other guide leaders...we were invited to the family home on several occasions. We always thought it quite humorous that Eleanor looked after the GIRL guides while raising four sons at home! We hope you experience God's loving presence especially at this time and that the love and support from family and friends, as well as the cherished memories of your wife and mother, will ease the pain of her loss. - Posted by: Dorothee Reimer and Monica Krahn (nee Schroeder) (Former fellow-church members) on: Dec 30, 2017
