SHAWNA SECORD "Most of all I remember her laughing. It filled my ears. Her smile, her sparkling eyes and her infectious laughter still can be heard in memory." Shawna Lea Secord, aged 44, passed away suddenly on Monday, December 25, 2017. She was born July 14, 1973 in Killarney, Manitoba to William (Bill) and Elizabeth (Betty) McBride. She lived there until 1989 when she moved to Winnipeg and attended Westwood Collegiate, graduating in 1991. She later furthered her studies at the University of Manitoba where she became a pharmacist. In 2000, Shawna met and quickly fell in love with Kirk Secord. They married two years later and shared 17 wonderful years together. Shawna will always be cherished by her husband Kirk and her two babies, KC and Mika; parents, Bill and Betty McBride; sisters, Kathryn McBride and Lynnette Beaudin (Rick) and countless other relatives and dear friends that knew and loved her. Condolences & Memories (10 entries)

  • My condolences and those of my husband and family go out to Shawna's husband and children, as well as her mom and dad, Betty and Bill. I did not know Shawna, but I have met both Betty and Bill often at Tim Horton's three years ago when I was visiting with my mom for a few winter months. From what I have read here it seems I would have liked to have known her. She certainly seems to have inherited a great sense of humour from her mom and dad as well as some other good qualities. It is never easy to lose a loved one, esp. a child, a wife, or a mother. Our prayers are with you all at this time. - Posted by: Dayle Johnson (friend) on: Jan 12, 2018

  • Bill & Betty, words are never enough to express sympathy on the loss of a child. We always assume that life will go along and you will never experience a tragic loss of a child. In time you will remember the good times and the pain with become manageable. You will think fondly of Shawna every day of your life, and that will help you to carry on. Embrace Shawna's family as they are your link, and you and they are in need of support from each other. Our thoughts are with you now and into the future. I am sure you will find support from places you never expect. Our condolences. Callum Caswell - Posted by: Callum & Heather Caswell (old friend of Bill & Betty from Killarney) on: Jan 08, 2018

  • I am deeply saddened and shocked by the loss of Shawna. My deepest and sincere condolences for her family and her husband. She will be truly missed and I will include her in my daily prayers. They said, a friend who dies, it's something of you who dies. The death of a friend is equivalent to the loss of a limb. I would like to add and say: Shawna's loss left a deep scar in my heart, she is not only the best hard working pharmacist I ever worked with, but she is also a friend, a sister, and supporter. My deepest sympathies go out to Shawna's family and to her husband "Kirk". May God give you the comfort and peace that you seek and may the soul of your loved one rest in peace. • I met Shawna when she came to work at Rexall on Stafford and Corydon. First thing I noticed was the spelling of her name. It is very unusual to see the name Shawna spelt with a W. I called her my twin. We hit it off right away. Her laugh always made me smile. Her sense of humour was amazing. I loved hanging with her outside of work and this world is now a sadder place without her in it. I will miss her terribly. Hugs and love to all the family. I am here for anything if you need it. - Posted by: Shawna Giesbrecht (Co worker) on: Dec 31, 2017

  • I knew Shawna for about 5 years now. I work for the company that delivers medications for the pharmacies. Her smile and infectious laugh will be what I will miss most about her. I could walk into the pharmacy and everyone was laughing. I had no idea about what, but everyone was laughing just because. It didn't matter. she lit up the place with her laugh and everyone love it. she could be heard on all floors. She was passionate about her profession and it showed every day. I will truly miss her and our jokes and laughs. My deepest condolences to all her family, may you cherish the wonderful moments and memories you had together for her brief time. God bless you all - Posted by: mark ceska (medds driver) on: Dec 30, 2017
