ROGER JOSEPH ERNEST DEGAGNE Roger Joseph Ernest Degagné, aged 74, passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, on Monday, January 1, 2018. Born in Morris, MB on January 11, 1943, he was the son of Aline (née Lauzé) and Louis Degagné; and one of seven children: Hubert, Louise, Marcel, Gérald, Colette and Léo. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Margot (née Marchand); his children: Richard (Dawn), Francine (Doug) and Nicole (Henri); as well as his cherished grandchildren: Garret, Danica, Marissa, Mathieu, Jeremy, Justin and Caroline. Dad was a man devoted to his faith and was passionate about everything he loved in life such as his family, sports, cooking, pin collecting, camping and his many road trips. He will be remembered as a man of service, always willing to lend a hand and leaving his mark on people along the way. For many years Dad was very involved with the Knights of Columbus, and served as the Manitoba State Deputy for two years. In 1984, he was on the organizing committee for the Papal visit. Our "Prince of Pins" took great pride in everything he was involved in. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at the St. Boniface Cathedral. A private family interment will follow at a later date. The family would like to thank Dr. Kevin Coates as well as the staff of the Oncology Department and Palliative Care Unit at St. Boniface Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba and The Diabetes Foundation of Manitoba. LECLAIRE BROTHERS 475 Provencher Blvd., in care of arrangements, 204-775-2220

Condolences & Memories (21 entries)

  • My condolences to the family. I just found out about Roger’s passing while watching curling on tv. Roger and I had played with Lloyd Gunnlaugson at the old Valour Road C.C. Lloyd’s grandson is the Manitoba rep at this year’s Briar. I met Roger when he was still with Alcan and then for many years after when he was a treasured customer and friend. We had some great times curling, especially the bonspiel in La Broquerie. While I hadn’t seen him for many years he was a good friend for many years and taught me a great deal about business when I joined Alcan. I’m very sorry he’s gone. - Posted by: Rick McGill (Friend) on: Mar 10, 2021
