Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJASON DARWIN WOYCHYSHYN It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Jason Woychyshyn, at the age of 47 years, following a brief, yet serious illness at Health Sciences Centre on Monday, January 1, 2018 with his mother Carol and sister Brenda by his side. He was predeceased by his father, Jack on May 7, 2015. Jason was born and raised in St. Andrews, Manitoba. At a very young age, his love of cars and trucks was apparent. He would spend hours outside playing with them in the mud, sand and snow. As he got older, his passion grew stronger and his love of vehicles broadened into motorcycling and snowmobiling. All of this led to Jason's greatest passion, driving a semi-truck. With his inherent mechanical skills and aptitude along with the encouragement and support of Dave Jones, Jason worked his way up from working in the shop, to driving front end loaders and other heavy equipment, to ultimately obtaining his class 1 driver's license. Through sheer hard work and determination Jason eventually purchased two Peterbilt tractor trailers and formed his own company, JWT, working alongside his friend and mentor, Dave Jones, hauling sand, gravel and snow. Jason was proud to also own a '70 Nova, Skidoo MXZ 700, a Suzuki GSX-R600 and a Harley Davidson softail among his many vehicles. Jason loved his boxer puppies, so when it was time to relax he enjoyed nothing more than playing with his boxer Magee (Newman and Simon). He also enjoyed playing hockey in his youth, golfing, playing cards, darts and Sudoku as well as watching hockey or football as he bet on the games playing sports select. Generous beyond compare, Jason would offer his help to anyone in need, giving of his time and anything that he had to benefit others. We will miss his endearing smile, his wit, and the offbeat sense of humour he shared with us all. Our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Kalra and the medical teams at Selkirk Regional Health Centre, Beausejour Hospital and Health Sciences Centre for the care and attention they gave Jason during his illness this past month. A memorial service to honor Jason will be held at Gilbart Funeral Home in Selkirk on Wednesday, January 10 at 11:00 a.m. A light lunch to follow in the Gilbart Reception Centre. Flowers are gratefully declined, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Keep on Truckin' Jay. Condolences may be left at www.gilbartfuneralhome.com Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
