Unfortunately, we never had the honour of meeting your Dad. It is a shame because by all accounts he was a wonderful man who put his Family first, was respected by co-workers, contributed to his community & "was fun to hang out with." Please accept deepest condolences & prayers from the Howie Family. We are saddened by your great loss & the void his passing has created in your lives. Expressing my deepest & heartfelt sympathy on the passing of your dear father. For 15 years your dad was a volunteer for the Canadian Cancer Society's annual April door to door campaign. Al began as a canvasser and for about 5 years took on the additional challenge of being an Area Chair and coordinating the fundraising campaign in his area. Your poor mom had to put up with all the material that landed on their doorstep and by the end of May was always happy to see it leave their home. Al had a wonderful rapport with the volunteers and as staff I enjoyed working with him every year. Please know our thoughts are with you at this sad time. Thank you for sharing this tribute and with tears I say farewell - RIP Staff & friends at the Canadian Cancer Society - Posted by: Lynda Ruban (staff at the Canadian Cancer Society) on: Jan 10, 2018

My condolences to the family. I was sad to hear Al passed away. We had so many great times working together at MTS. I was happy to reconnect with Al and a few of us ladies that had the opportunity to work for him over lunch at Rae & Jerry's. It was also a great surprise for Neta Smith (Remple) to see Al at her 95th birthday we had for her. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
