Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLILI ANA THORLAKSON (nee NEUFELD) 1944 - 2018 We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Lili Ana Thorlakson (nee Neufeld) on January 2, 2018. Lili was born on March 29, 1944 to Johann and Liese Neufeld in Curitiba, Brazil. She was predeceased by her parents, brother Waldemar (Jake) Neufeld and stepson Craig Thorlakson. She leaves to mourn her husband Carl and stepchildren, Deana Hirt (Ken) and children, Cory and Michael, Derek (Liana) and daughter Hannah, and brothers, Gerhard (Ruth) and family, Hans (Anni) and family, sisters, Elsa and Viola. Her growing up years were spent in Brazil. In her early teens she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal saviour and was baptised on the confession of her faith. She enjoyed music and loved to sing. Singing in choirs gave her great enjoyment. She also loved to play the piano. After she finished school, she worked in a German bookstore for several years. It was here that she saw an advertisement for a job in Germany. Together with her sister Viola, she went to Germany in June 1965. A little more than a year later she immigrated to Canada with the rest of the family. She returned to Germany later, where she stayed till 1973. Then she came back to Canada. After several jobs as a nurse's aide, she began to work at the St. Amant Centre. From here she retired after 25 years of service. In 1981, she married Carl Thorlakson. They recently celebrated 36 years of marriage A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 26 at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery) at 1:30 p.m. Pallbearers will be Ken Hirt, Cory Hirt, Michael Hirt, Rennie Verscheure, Harold Neufeld and Wesley Neufeld.
