RICHARD JAMES HALL Peacefully, on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Riverview Health Centre, surrounded by his family. Dad is survived by his wife Jane; daughter Debbie Baker (Dave); son Kevin Hall (Robert Scott); grandchildren, Cassandra Visser (Randall), Josh Baker (Emily) and Alex Baker; sister Sidney Thomas, and many nieces and nephews. Dad was born in Winnipeg, MB, on March 30, 1937 and passed away at the age of 80 years old. Dad met the love of his life, Jane Hall (nee Whitehouse), in 1965 while both were working together at Associated Hospitals. They married in May 1966. In 1967 their daughter, Debbie was born followed by their son Kevin in 1970. We enjoyed many family vacations and summers at the lake. Dad was a family man and very involved in his children's lives. Dad was a wonderful grandfather to Cassandra, Josh and Alex. Dad was a hard worker from an early age with his paper route and as a delivery boy. He spent many years studying his CMA and got certified in 1971. He retired after 40 years with Veteran Affairs in 1997. Dad developed many lifelong relationships with several friends; and still maintained contact with a few of them up until recently. Jack King was a lifelong friend of 65 years. Dad's family bought a cottage at Longpine Lake at Ingolf, ON in 1951, where he enjoyed many wonderful summers with his family, fishing with his dad at Deer Lake, riding his canoe and playing cards. Dad enjoyed the lake until this summer 2017. Dad was an able handyman who was constantly puttering, building and fixing things. Dad was a man of integrity, highly principled and very humble. Not a man of many words, but his actions impacted many people. In the last few years of his life, Dad displayed an abundance of courage, strength and perseverance in dealing with his dementia. When he moved into Harmony Court, he did with dignity and bravery. Many thanks to the kind staff and care givers at Harmony Court, especially Maria. He lived the last few months at Riverview Health Centre and we would also like to extend our gratitude to the staff for their care of Dad. In the end, Dad passed away with the same strength, courage and dignity that he lived with in his life. In lieu of flowers, a donation to The Riverview Foundation/Alzheimer Centre is appreciated. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 12 at 2:00 p.m. at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons, Winnipeg. Desjardins 204-233-4949 1-888-233-4949 www.desjardinsfuneralchapel.ca

  • Goodby old friend. It was a great run through life and I shall miss you and our memories of growing up together in the west end. Truly a man of integrity, who would always be willing to lend a helping hand. Terry - Posted by: Terry Stratton (Old friend) on: Jan 13, 2018
