ALLAN LLOYD WILDMAN With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Allan Lloyd Wildman, 70, on Friday, December 29, 2017 at the Selkirk Hospital, in Manitoba. Allan was the loving husband of Antoinette and devoted father to Sarah (Chris) and Eric. He is missed by his sisters, Diane (Bud) and Nancy (Frank), nieces and nephews, and numerous close friends. Born in Ontario, Allan's early years were ones of rebellion and defying authority. These characteristics would later drive his career as he challenged the status quo in the pursuit of something better. Allan found his calling in social work and graduated with a Masters of Social Work from the University of Manitoba. He went on to spend a number of years working as an Addiction Counsellor in Manitoba, where he touched the lives of many. He dedicated his career to helping others through his education and personal life experiences. He was a driven professional, having held many positions in the field of mental health and addictions, along with running his own private counselling practice. Allan was an avid storyteller, who enjoyed going to the beach, gardening and spending time with family. He loved it when we called him Big Poppa. Generally lacking a filter and a lover of the absurd, Allan had a unique sense of humour, shared by his many close friends and family. As per his wishes, cremation has taken place and no service will be held. seasonsfunerals.ca

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • I met Alan in the past 15 years. He always spoke about his son Eric who he loved so much and always cared about people. He didn't seem selfish only asked for help when he needed it but he didn't always receive the help he was asking for. People would say he is a character which to me means that he understands others and is able to tell his story in life. Everyone has a story, I didn't hear all of Alan's story but I am grateful that I have his memory of him just a nice dude. Take care I know you are in heaven. - Posted by: Trevor (Aquaintence ) on: Jun 14, 2021

  • May Allan rest in peace. I met Allan in 1976 at Ottawa University when Allan was completing his Thesis. Back in March 1962, we had an encounter near the Saskatchewan border. All has been forgiven and he is to be remembered for changing his life around. Well done Allan. - Posted by: Tony Cooper (RCMP retired) on: Jan 30, 2018

  • I had the privilege of meeting Mr. Wildman when I worked in the Beausejour area before moving to Alberta. I found him to be a kind and caring individual in spite of having faced many challenges in a life that would have left most people bitter. I hope Eric and others in his family will be comforted by the many good memories they will recall during the coming years. - Posted by: Bill Stevens (Friend) on: Jan 08, 2018
