MARCELO CANSINO April 1, 1944 - December 30, 2017 It is with great sadness, the family announces the sudden passing of Marcelo Cansino on December 30, 2017, at Seven Oaks General Hospital, at the age of 73. Marcelo was predeceased by his wife Lolita Manzon Cansino; his mother Sebertina; and his father Felipe; his sister Lourdes (Ninoy) Mercado, his brother Emilio (Priscilla); his sister-in-law Leonida (Eulogio), and his brothers-in-law Silvestre (Erlinda) Tolentino, and Cris (Adelaida) Balancio. He will be lovingly remembered by his son Gerald (Linda), and their three children Arel, Noah, and Justin; his siblings Virgilio (Mary Ann), Milagros (Celso) Gray, Priscilla (Edgardo) Ylarde, and Zaldy (Lilia). Marcelo was born April 1, 1944 in San Nicolas, Pangasinan, Philippines. He came to Canada from the Philippines in 1976. He worked as a cook in the former North Star Hotel and Delta Hotel, and current Radisson Downtown Hotel for over 35 years. He was a devout Catholic who attended St. Peter's Church every Sunday. He was a self-sacrificing individual who was always there to help unconditionally. Marcelo treated everyone like family and made an impact on the lives of many including his good friend Abdul Sharif. He also had a passion for gardening. He was a devoted father and grandfather to his son and grandchildren who meant the world to him. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and support staff at Seven Oaks General Hospital. Lamay will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. to midnight, with prayers being held at 7:00 p.m., at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul, MB. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, 748 Keewatin St. Interment will follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens.
