Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGLEN MACKAY FRASER February 21, 1923 - January 5, 2018 Peacefully, on January 5, 2018, Glen passed away in his 95th year after a brief illness. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Florence, who he adored, his daughter Marilyn Bowles (Bruce), son David (Carol), son Robert (Lori), grandchildren Bradley (Jenn), Bob and Jamie Bowles, Aynsley Kiernicki (Ryan), Andrew Fraser (Danielle), Leum and Carly Fraser, and beloved great-grandchildren Jack and Lucas Kiernicki and Reagan Fraser. He was born in Glenella, MB in 1923 later moving to Winnipeg during The Great Depression where he had a humble but happy upbringing. Glen made friends easily and was a great storyteller. He chose sales as a profession and had a successful career with NCR, where his honesty, integrity and commitment to customers resulted in Top Canadian Salesman awards. He was a long-time member and active participant of Norwood United Church and later St. Mary's Road United Church. Glen had a lifetime love of golf and enjoyed his years as a member of Southwood Golf Course. Glen had a heart of gold and a generous nature. He especially enjoyed the family cottage at Clear Lake he and Florence built and shared for over 30 years, and their annual winter getaways to Arizona. In his later years, he became a master wood carver and his beautiful pieces are enjoyed by many. Glen loved his family dearly and enthusiastically supported their many pursuits. Being proud of his Scottish heritage, we were always treated to a Robert Burns grace or toast at family gatherings, which tradition will be continued by his children and grandchildren. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend and will be dearly missed. Special thanks to the wonderful staff at Deer Lodge who compassionately cared for Glen during his final year. Funeral service will be held Thursday, January 11, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Road United Church, 613 St. Mary's Road. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Salvation Army. Sincere condolences to the family of Glen Fraser. I only recently knew him as my father entered Deer Lodge this past year. Glen sat at the dining table with Dad and two others and they were a great bunch of fellows. Glen always was there with a smile and hello and I was very sad indeed to hear of his passing. - Posted by: Pamela Tennant () on: Jan 17, 2018
