DENNIS HILMER HUMBLE Dennis Hilmer Humble, 87, died peacefully on January 4, 2018, at the Tuxedo Villa Care Home, Winnipeg. Dennis leaves behind his beloved wife of 64 years, Frances; son Ronald and daughter-in-law Ingrid; grandchildren, Tiffany and Philip; brother Jim and sister-in-law Iris; sisters, Gloria, Delores, Loretta, Marlene, and many nieces and nephews. Born in Unity, Saskatchewan in 1930, the son of Hilmer and Pearl Humble, Dennis spent his early years on the farm at Linaria, Alberta. After a brief stint as a lumberjack in BC, he served a decade as an aircraft mechanic in the RCAF, including a deployment to the Middle East. After subsequent employment in the financial and petroleum industries, he continued the remainder of his career in the aviation sector where he rose to the position of flight engineer providing support to the DEW Line in the far Canadian Arctic for many years. Dennis was a God fearing family man who firmly believed in hard work and self-reliance, but was always quick to offer help of any kind to family and friends. He had a magic touch for fixing and building many things. He loved animals including family pets, but also local wild creatures who came to his yard for food and shelter, including many generations of rabbits and crows and a lone seagull. Dennis was passionate about music and was accomplished on the violin and other musical instruments. Dennis will be greatly missed by family and friends. A private service and interment is forthcoming at Chapel Lawn. Many thanks to the nursing and support staff at Tuxedo Villa for their kind care and compassion. • I have fond memories of my brother and myself at a very young age. My brother, 8 yrs older than me, was my protector in school. He taught himself to play violin and I would accompany him playing the comb. We played music in an old granary outside. Dennis trapped weasels and squirrels to sell hides to buy things he wanted for violin etc. He was on threshing crews and worked on farms at a very young age. I was always so proud of him. - Posted by: James and Iris Humble (Brother and sister-law) on: Jan 11, 2018
