I have very fond memories of Paul at 7 yrs. old in my grade 2 class at St. Charles Academy. Paul and his buddy Charlie use to like playing little jokes on the teacher. They loved having fun! My deepest condolences to Paul's family and to all the Caron family. SIncerely, Carole ( McCaughan) Regnier - Posted by: Carole Regnier (former teacher) on: Jan 20, 2018

Paul Caron was not only a childhood friend – he was my best friend. LaFlèches and Carons have lived side by side on the shores of the Assiniboine River since the 1880’s. Paul and I were cousins, neighbours, classmates and teammates. One of my earliest memories is going to the Carons to work on my “Rainy Day Workbook” that my mom and Edith had bought for their 5-year old boys. We spent many hours riding our bicycles before graduating to mini-bikes and snowmobiles. We spent many hours in the woods where we built forts, carved out trails and designed booby traps for unsuspecting evil-doers. We built a less that sea-worthy raft for the inaugural Headingly Raft Race. He had us worried when he swallowed his quarter in grade 5 as we were waiting in line to get into the pool at our school. We played baseball and hockey. Our plan to spend the night in the woods with no tent was cut short when the leaves he used after relieving himself turned out to be poison oak! We took large bolts and grinded rings in his uncle Louis’ shop for “Avon and Sue” in grade 7. We shared the same classroom at St-Charles Academy from 1965 to 1973 before going our separate ways in high school. Paul and I grew apart after that, but I will always have very fond memories of a story-book childhood with a great best friend. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family. - Posted by: Charlie LaFleche (Childhood friend) on: Jan 15, 2018
