GERTRUD FREDERIKSEN Peacefully on Sunday, January 8, 2018 Gertrud (Gert) Frederiksen (nee Poulsen) beloved wife of the late Eric Frederiksen passed away at The Grace Hospital, at age of 96 years. She is survived by her sons, Knud and Paul (Virginia) and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gertrud was predeceased by her husband Eric and her daughter Kirsten (Richard). Gertrud married Eric November 15, 1942 in Nr Alslev Denmark and immigrated to Canada in 1950 with two children, Knud and Kirsten. Gertrud had a variety of different jobs before settling in with Family Services, caring for families a job that she enjoyed. She had many interests, she loved nature and enjoyed gardening and caring for her family. She loved to entertain family and friends and her home was the hub of many enjoyable gatherings. Gertrud also enjoyed many handicrafts: knitting, needlepoint and created many beautiful pieces. Gertrud was a very kind and caring person and always thought of other people before herself. She was happiest when helping and giving to others. Gertrud always chose to see the best in people and would always say "you can not judge a person until you have walked in their shoes". She will be sadly missed. As per Gertrud's wishes there will be no service held. A private interment will occur at a later date. Family would like to thank Lion's Manor 8th floor for their support and kindness, as well as Grace Hospital 5 North staff nurse Christine for excellent care. Donations in memory of Gertrud can be made to The Children's Hospital Foundation CE501 - 840 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB R3A 1S1. Hush, please don't cry Don't shed any more tears For once I can finally fly, without any fears, So peaceful and calm, without pain In the Lord/s palm and only happiness to gain, Beautiful flowers growing, Little birds chirping Lovely streams flowing And your love for me showing Green grass, fresh air If you could only see The lions and the bears as gentle as can be Hush, please don't cry, Be happy for me For this is the place I've longed to be..
