Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRONALD ALEXANDER RUSSELL November 15, 1926 - January 12, 2018 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ron Russell at the age of 91. Born in Winnipeg, he spent his entire life here. At the age of 21, he met the love of his life, Carol, and was married in 1951, they spent 66 wonderful years together. They have three children, Robyn (Bill Hoffer), Ray (Diane) and Barry (Angie); three grandsons, Derek and Steve Russell, David Hoffer and five great-grandsons. Ron worked many years for Fraser Valley (Dairyland Foods) and spent most of his spare time coaching hockey from Pee Wee to Junior, spending many frigid nights on rinks. He also loved spending time with his family taking them on many camping trips. He was a devoted father. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home on McGillivray Boulevard. If friends so desire, memorial donations in Ron's name can be made to the MS Society of Canada.

I played hockey for Mr Russell (with Barry as Assistant Coach) from 1975-1979. Mr Russell's knowledge of how to play hockey as a team and how to conduct oneself as a young man, is something i have carried my whole life. I know he dedicated himself to his family and many young athletes. The Winnipeg and Manitoba hockey community was blessed to have him as a coach and mentor to so many of us. My condolencses to Mrs Russell, Robyn, Ray, Barry and the extended family. A Great Man who lived a full life. - Posted by: Craig Downs (Player for Mr. Russell) on: Jan 16, 2018
