Lorraine found her professional calling as a schoolteacher, first in St. Ambroise and, later, in St. Boniface and St. Adolphe. Her love of teaching went hand in hand with her abiding interest in art, music and theatre. Lorraine spent many years singing, not only at home but also in front of appreciative local audiences. As far as she was concerned, the hills truly were alive with the sound of music. Lorraine's other passion was communing with Mother Nature: she had botanical gardens both inside and outside of the house, with books and notes on all things green and growing. Tending her tropical plants and flower gardens gave her the peace of mind she sought, away from the troubles of the world. Lorraine will also be remembered for her humility, hard work, faith in God and gentle acceptance of the here and now that were constants in the life she shared for 62 years with her husband Louis. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the Repos Jolys staff for the 10 years of compassionate care they provided Lorraine. The Funeral Mass celebrating her life will be held on January 19, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. at the St. Adolphe Roman Catholic Church, to be preceded by a eulogy at 1:15 p.m. Donations are gratefully accepted by the Repos Jolys, 354 avenue Préfontaine, Saint-Pierre-Jolys, MB R0A 1V0.
