Date of Passing: Dec 25, 2017
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHARRY EAMES ROSS 1936 - 2017 With heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Harry E. Ross on Christmas Day 2017, at the age of 81. He will be greatly missed by Trudy Ross (wife for 22 years); his four daughters, Joan (Brian) Blondahl, Diana (Dave), Amey Jenn and Jamie Ross; his five grandchildren, Kate (Jean) Archambault, Daniel (Justine) Amey, Aren (Carrie) Blondahl, Leslie (Josh) Blondahl, and Quinn Dumont; and great-granddaughter Charlotte Archambault; as well as many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Harry was preceded by his parents, Gwendolyn and Jack Ross, his older brother Jack and younger brother Ralph "RB". Harry was a big man with an even bigger personality. With a zest for life, he enjoyed cottage life at Middle Lake, family trips to Florida, sports, reading, gardening and especially his dog Bentley. Harry's greatest passion was his career in the flooring industry. This is where he spent 60 years creating lasting memories and many friendships. A private Celebration of Life will be held in the spring - Harry's favourite time of year. The family would like to send a special thanks to Norm Claydon and George Jacques for being such great friends to Harry through thick and thin, and for all the Diet Pepsi! During years 1966-70, many of the floor covering industry would gather at Harry’s shop for a few drinks. The rule was NO DRINKS BEFORE 5:00 pm. Many fond memories. - Posted by: Brian Sinclair (Friend and business ass.) on: Sep 20, 2021

Harry and I grew up together, literally, from 1941 to 1951 when I moved from Palmerston at the corner of Evanson St. out to the country at Rivercrest north of Winnipeg. I definitely remember Ralph, the "little brother", alternately being helpful or a nuisance. (according to Harry, anyway) Harry was always up for anything, especially if it involved some new kind of imaginary adventure, in the Laura Secord schoolyard, anywhere along the riverbank, in his or my basement, in the back lanes behind our houses or anywhere downtown. We spent many winter weekends going to 2 movies, a gangster one on Friday night at the Bijou theatre on Main St. and a cowboy one on Saturday afternoon at the Tivoli on Maryland St. I also remember visiting his parents' cottage on Brereton Lake several times, that was another source of great adventures on the water or in the woods. His parents Gwen and Jack were the most hospitable and sympathetic people I will ever meet. Adieu, Harry, your memories will live with me forever. I remember when I first met Harry. It was at The Left Bank in the Hotel Fort Gary where my husband to be worked, Bo. He was introduced to me as “bear”. And that is what he was. A tall cuddly man. If I remember right he had a big brown fur coat. We lost touch until one day when I was taking my son to skating lessons and there he was with Jen and Jamie. Turns out we lived just blocks apart. I met and became really good friends with his wonderful wife Trudy. My son and daughter became friends with Jen and Jamie. We had lovely visits by the pool and I remember how proud Harry was of the plants around his house. My condolences to Trudy, Jen and Jamie and all of the rest of the family and friends. I guess they needed a cuddly bear in heaven. - Posted by: Betty Hirniak (Friend) on: Jan 25, 2018

Harry was a good friend for almost 50 years. Although we have not chatted for a few years after I moved to Mexico, he was always a big part of my memories of Winnipeg. I was his last "room mate" at his house on the river near Lockport when he met Trudy, and he started a new life and a new family. I have hundreds of funny and amazing stories of Harry over the years, and was just telling friends last weekend a wild Harry story that brought everyone to tears of laughter. I wish this wonderful "huggable huge bear" of a man peace and laughter in his new life. I miss him. Don - Posted by: Don McGillivray (friend) on: Jan 20, 2018
