ERNEST (ERNIE) LOUIS JOSEPH ROUSSEAU
Date of Passing: Jan 15, 2018
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryERNEST (ERNIE) LOUIS JOSEPH ROUSSEAU With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Ernie Rousseau, on Monday, January 15, 2018. Ernie was born in Winnipeg and attended school in St. Boniface. He inherited a strong work ethic from his parents (Albert and Yvonne) and gradually assumed the role of owner/operator at A-1 Environmental Services, the family business. He will be forever remembered by his wife Dorothy; his two children, Renee (Jeff) and Ian (Ursula); six grandchildren, Leila, Colton, Kaden, Nathan, Lincoln and Jaxon; as well as four sisters, Janine (Dean), Gisèle (Ted), Denise (Jay) and Michèle (Rick), and their families. Ernie was a charismatic individual with a zest for life. He enjoyed the outdoors and participated in many recreational activities. He cultivated many friendships over the years, notably at the Rod & Gun Club, the Nicolette Curling Club, on the racetrack at Red River Co-op Speedway, at Whiteshell Provincial Park and on Lake of the Woods. His employees "at the shop" could always count on him for support. Above all, Ernie valued friends and family, and was driven by a fierce sense of loyalty. He would "give the shirt off his back" without hesitation. Ernie displayed a great sense of humour, and a witty knack for practical jokes that sparked many smiles. Ernie held endless, fond memories of these friendships. Now we can draw solace as his memory remains in our hearts. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Brian Sharkey and his staff for all the care and compassion over the past years. Special thanks to the dedicated staff at St. Boniface Hospital and the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (Firehall No.9). Family and friends are welcome to a viewing in the chapel at Green Acres Funeral Home, on Saturday, January 20 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Monday, January 22 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 2400 Portage Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory, to a charity of your choice. "Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed and very dear." Sorry unable to attend funeral. Have known older members of family since Enfield Crescent days. Was treated very well by Albert, then Ernie, when started business and rented office space for several years at A-1.Remember great discussions and joking, including Ernie's unique sense of humor, during many coffee breaks in the common coffee/meeting room. Condolences to entire family. - Posted by: Armand & Yvonne Lafreniere (Friends/Business) on: Jan 22, 2018
