Mam was the first-born and the eldest of seven, born to Rijk Griffioen and Metje Roosendaal on May 29, 1928, in Abcoude, The Netherlands. She was predeceased by her mother and father, her husband Kees and two sisters. She is survived by her two children, Ryk (Lou) and Mary Anne (Denise), her brother and sisters, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Donations to the Mooring-Griffioen Bursary at either the University of Winnipeg or Mooring-Griffioen Library fund in Town of Selkirk would be appreciated. Truida was a wonderful neighbour who in a very short time touched the hearts of each member of our family. We will miss her friendly greetings and engaging personality. On sunny summer days, it was a pleasure to see her reading a stack of books on the front deck and a double pleasure when she would smile and call out hello. We will remember her caring ways, sense of humour, authentic manner and unique approach to life. We extend sincere condolences to her family and friends. Margo Yeomans, Roderick Thomas and Aidan. - Posted by: Margo Yeomans (Neighbour) on: Jan 25, 2018

Meeting Truida and getting to know her was inspirational. Through morning talks at the pool at lap swim and on social occasions we realized that our paths had crossed numerous times. 7 years ago I discovered that Truida was the woman who hooked the Selkirk Dolphins wall hanging which now hangs safely and proudly in the Pool office. Growing up near Garson we discovered we only live a mile apart, swimming at the Garson Quarry, We shared many moments sharing our own memories of the past. We will miss Truida. She was magnificent, caring & compassionate. - Posted by: Michelle Stamm (Friend / Pool Manager) on: Jan 23, 2018

Truida made you smile each time you ran across her. She was always cheerful. She's the only one I know that would grab a chair, and sit outside in the sun on a winter day. As one of our morning lap swimming group, she would spend over two hours round trip, travelling by bus to swim in the pool winter or summer. Although she had many offers of rides, she staunchly refused them because she felt she had to do it on her own. One time I gave her some extra wool that I wasn't using and she knit it up and gave it back in the form of socks. She was a wonderful lady, and we all miss her. - Posted by: Marilyn Souter (friend) on: Jan 22, 2018
