MARY YOZEFOWICH (nee ONUFREYCHUK) 1940 - 2018 We're very sad to announce on January 23, 2018, Mary very quickly and suddenly passed away with her entire family by her side. Mary is predeceased by her husband Russell; her mother and father; her brother Ben; and her sister Margie. Mary was born July 12, 1940, in Rembrandt, MB, where she grew up as the daughter to Steve and Pauline Onyfreychuk. Mary moved to Winnipeg where she found the love of her life Russell. They started a family and raised three children together. She worked at Paulins Cookies; otherwise she spent her life being a full time mother and baba to her family. Mary and Russell retired to Rembrandt, MB, not far from where she grew up. After Russell passed away, Mary continued to live on the farm, where she lived for the remainder of her life. She enjoyed taking care of and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whether it was to play with them, praise them, or the odd yell. She took great pride in her yard, her grass always looked like a golf course, even when she lived in Winnipeg her yard was always kept up though it was always a fight against the dandelions. Her door was always open for a Pepsi, coffee, a conversation, or even just to hear a good story about her life. Her hobbies included crocheting, picking mushrooms, and playing Bingo. She loved playing Mahjong on her computer, doing a search-a-word while listening to the radio, reading books before bed, a good episode of Days of Our Lives or wrestling, riding around with her brother Tony looking for the next wildlife. If Mary didn't have a coffee and a smoke by her side, it was a Pepsi with a straw and a smoke. Every day no matter how bad her arthritis was, she still managed to do everything! Mary always managed to make her grandchildren and great-grandchildren her famous chocolate chip pancakes, or play with them. She was always up for an argument with Kelvin about who make better potatoes and cream. Every time wood was to be cut she was always at the log splitter manning the controls. She couldn't yell at Kelvin or Mike anymore, that's what the grandkids were for, and she loved them all deeply. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Sharon (Dale), Kelvin (Lorna), and Michael (Darcy); grandchildren, Stacy, Daniel, Lizzie, Amanda, Mike, Daulton, and Tanner; great-grandchildren, Bentley, Jayden, Kaiden, and Adrianna; her brothers, Mike (Helen), Tony (Anita), and Ken, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Elizabeth Yozefowich, Amanda Yozefowich, Mike Christie, Daulton Christie, Tanner Christie, Stacy Holmes, and Daniel Holmes. Honorary pallbearers will be Alberto Castellano, Merle Lukianchuk, and Dennis Melnychuk. Funeral service will take place at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 27, 2018, at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul, MB. Viewing will be held one hour prior. Interment and reception will follow the service. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenedenmemorial.ca Glen Eden Funeral Home & Cemetery 204-338-7111

  • Your Mom was a very special lady and Joe thought the world of her! Please, if I can be there for you and your family let me know! - Posted by: Karen Brotzel (Friend) on: Jan 28, 2018

  • It was always a pleasure to stop by and visit Mary whether I was on the way to the hay field or out hunting or just a visit to see how she was doing she always had a story to go with the pepsi or coffee. She looked forward to come with Mike and I scouting for deer and tell us where she saw them cross the road or eating in a field. One secret she never gave up was where she picked morels. When my children were young she was always willing to look after them along with her grand children no task was to big for her. We love you Baba and will miss you dearly but those memories will always live on. - Posted by: Dennis Melnychuk (Family friend) on: Jan 26, 2018
