BERTHA (BETTY) LETENDRE 1923-2018 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Bertha Letendre on January 21, 2018 at the age of 94. Bertha was predeceased by her parents, Reginald and Ethel Smee, her sister Patricia Smee both of England and her husband Alec. Bertha will be sadly missed by her three children; Jeannette (Jim) Preston, Peter (Pat) Letendre, and Irene (Les) Henschel. Her three granddaughters; Angela Reid (Neil), Jodi (Brad) Hargreaves and Jackie (Dave) Marcq. Her three great-grandsons; Stephen Malzahn (Sherri), Zachary and Logan Hargreaves. She will also be missed by her sister Lillian (John) Brown, niece Carole and nephew Martyn (Diane) all of England. Bertha was born in Valetta, Malta on February 11, 1923 where her father was a Sargeant Major in the Royal Horse Artillery. Mum was married May 8, 1943 in England and came to Canada as a war bride in July 1947. Mum and Dad had 52 years together until Dad's passing in 1996. Mum spent hundreds of hours sewing and knitting for her children and granddaughters over the years. Special thanks to all the staff at Vista Park Lodge for all their care and compassion looking after Mum. Funeral service will be held on Monday, January 29, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage Avenue.
