Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMICHAEL NORMAN MADDEN 1931 - 2018 Michael Norman Madden, 86 years old, died peacefully in his sleep on the 24th of January at the Riverview Health Centre in Winnipeg. Michael was born November 23, 1931 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He was the tenth of 13 children born to Joseph and Ivy Madden and lived at 367 Victor St. Michael attended St. Edward's School and then St. Paul's High School where he excelled in athletics. The love of football remained with him all his life, particularly his "Fighting Irish" College favourite Notre Dame. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed any day on the fairway, especially out at Falcon Lake with Con, Kevin and Leo. Michael was a devout and faithful member of the Catholic church and his love for God was his life-long guide. He married Jacqueline Alice Neil in 1954 and together they raised six beautiful children. He loved working with wood and his remarkable skills led him to build a career in carpentry and contracting, culminating in the construction of his own dream home in the Comox Valley. Jackie and Mike then spent the next part of their lives enjoying the good friends and good weather of island life. Michael was predeceased by his first-born son Sean in 1975. He is lovingly remembered by Jacqueline, his sweetheart through 64 years of marriage, and his five children, Linda (Michael), James, Jeffrey (Cindy), Stephen and Philip (Sharon); his grand-children Sean (Shoni), Elizabeth, Adrian, Ivy, Rhiannon, Nicholas and Riel and his great granddaughters Nola and Isabelle. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Vital Catholic Church, 1629 Pembina Hwy, at 10:30 am, Wednesday, January 31.
