WILLARD (WILL) LLOYD LAND Will, with his family at his side, passed away peacefully at the age of 87 years on Thursday, January 25, 2018. He was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Hessie Land; sister Eileen; brother Guy; sisters-in-law, Mildred and Judy and brother-in-law Bill. Left to cherish his memory are the love of his life, his wife of 63 years, Gerry; daughters, Karen and Jennifer; sons, Ken (Cathy) and Kelly (Kathleen); grandchildren, Caralynn (Trish), Patrick (Kaitlin), Michelle (Jeff), Kevin (Jenny), Sarah (Kenny) and Elise (Alex); great-grandchildren, Bennett, Thomas, Lucas and Georgia; sister-in-law Ginny Braid; brother-in-law Art Braid and numerous nieces and nephews. Will was born April 11, 1930 in Winnipeg, MB where he attended school at Isaac Brock and Daniel Mac. He started his career at the Dominion Bank, followed by many years at Fiberglas Canada, ending it with the Manitoba Built up Roofers Association. He met Gerry at the Sargent Park swimming pool in 1951 and following their marriage on September 1, 1954, they would go on to raise their four children in the Riverview area. Will enjoyed participating in soccer (as a player for Weston Bred), bowling and golf and coaching hockey and soccer at the Riverview Community Club. He also enjoyed spending time in his yard tending to the flowers, vegetable and trees. Following his retirement, Will and Gerry spent many hours volunteering at Fort Whyte Alive. They loved the quiet times of September at the family cottage at White Lake, where Will's "instruction notes" are legendary and also loved the noisy times with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Special thanks to Dr. V. Dao at CancerCare MB, the doctors, nurses and aides at the St. Boniface Dialysis Unit and Dr. A. Buchel at St. Boniface Emergency Department. At Will's request, there will be no funeral service held. Flowers most gratefully declined. Donations in Will's memory may be made to Fort Whyte Alive, CancerCare Manitoba or a charity of your choice.
