She asked for their permission to go be in heaven with her beloved husband Fred. Mom was born in Kenora, Ontario on July 4, 1921. She had 96 wonderful years on this earth with us. One of the places that was the centre of her life for over 50 years, was her time spent with us at our family camp at Rabbit Lake in Kenora. Mom went back in the work force after raising us three kids, Ray, Dee Dee and Nancy. She took great pride in her job in the hospital admissions and enjoyed working there for many years. In later years, mom also acquired her driver's license. Mom always enjoyed learning new things, watching the news and keeping up on current events. Left to mourn are son Ray (Linda); daughter Nancy (Lorne); grandchildren, Dan (Lynette), Lisa, Cliff, Kerry (Don), Jacqueline (Glenn), Melissa (Lyndon); great-grandchildren, Karly, Kaitlyn, Samantha and Jake and sister Verna Gilbert (Lloyd). She was predeceased by her husband Fred; daughter Maureen McComb (Dee Dee) and grandsons, Hal, Michael, Kelly and Jim. Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB. Refreshments will be served directly after. Final interment will be held in Kenora during the summer. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit www.chapellawn.ca Chapel Lawn Funeral Home 204-885-9715

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

On behalf of my mom Eleanor and myself, we wish to offer our most sincere condolences to Evelyn's family. I got to know your mom while visiting my mom at Sturgeon Creek as they were table mates in the dining room. Over the past 2.5 years we shared some good laughs. One especially that stands out in my mind was when your mom was so looking forward to her shrimp dinner. The new waitress did not bring her cocktail sauce so I got her attention and requested it. She soon reappeared and plunked a dish in front of your mom and quickly left. We had a good laugh when we realized it was cranberries and not the seafood cocktail sauce. Your mom was always so positive about everything and such a kind lady. She will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her. Little by little, even though your mom is gone you will remember that she lived. That her life gave you so many exceptional memories too wonderful to forget. Wishing you peace and strength through this difficult time. Warmly, Eleanor Wilde Myrna Wilde - Posted by: Myrna Wilde (Friend) on: Jan 27, 2018
