So sad to lose our star winner at the Red River Ex. Jean was a delight to know and we will so miss her cheery smile and most of all her wonderful art. - Posted by: Donalda Johnson (fellow artist ) on: Feb 25, 2018

I am so sorry to learn of Jean's passing. She was a good friend, wonderful artist and person. Every time she came to the MHC Gallery I knew a hug and encouraging words would accompany the visit. She was positive, energetic, creative, thoughtful, kind, quirky -- in such a good way -- and strong. I will miss her presence at the gallery and in my life. - Posted by: Ray Dirks (friend) on: Feb 16, 2018

I met Jean in 1970 when I got my first job at Sears in the cosmetic department. We became fast friends and our friendship lasted over the years even though I lived most of my life away from Winnipeg. I remember her as friendly, funny, full of zest and enthusiasm and joy. I moved back 2 years ago and she was one of the first people I looked up. She welcomed me home with open arms. My condolences to Cori and family. Her family was so important to her and she spoke of you all with great happiness. I cherish my memories of her and Otto. - Posted by: Laurie Sinclair-Fair (Friend) on: Feb 08, 2018

Henry and Ott were friends and colleagues at CIBC for many years, and we enjoyed many times with Jean and Ott. When Ott passed away our friendship with Jean continued. Jean and Eleonore exhibited an art show together at Createry, as well as annual art exhibits with the MSA, and occasional coffee times. We had many laughs together. We would like to send our condolences to Cori and the extended family. And thank you, Cori, for the wonderful snacks and drinks you prepared for Jean and me for the Createry art exhibit. - Posted by: Eleonore and Henry Esau (long-time friends and colleagues) on: Feb 07, 2018

I met Jean Wiens in 1981 through a mutual friend. She sought my opinion on her painting because I am a symbolologist. We enjoyed may lunches in her home and many restaurants, parks and Mennonite Art Gallery, Private and public showing of her new creations and the Red River Exhibitions. Jean's works were always amazing as was her love of the arts. She had so many friends that meant so much to her, but nothing was as important to her as was her love for Otto and her family. She will be missed but her works will always be a reminder of her life. Rest well my dear friend, your love will never be forgotten. - Posted by: James Aisaican-Chase (Friend and art created by Jean Wiens enthusiast. ) on: Feb 05, 2018

Aunt Jean was my closest relative while living in Winnipeg 2010-2017. She was such an active person, with many friends & interests but often took a good part of a afternoon [usually lunch running into afternoon coffee] to visit, reminisce, and discuss a wide variety of topics. The art shows she invited us to introduced us to the Winnipeg art scene which we enjoyed as well. We are going to miss her very much and offer Cori & Rob, Scott, Lisa & her family our heartfelt sympathy. Sharon & Joe - Posted by: Sharon Kronstal (niece) on: Feb 04, 2018
