KATHLEEN (KAY) MARY SMITH (nee RICHARDSON) August 1, 1924 - February 3, 2018 Peacefully, Kathleen Mary Smith passed away, with her four children by her side, at River Park Gardens on February 3, 2018. She is survived by her four children Kathryn Molloy, David Smith (Lark Gamey), Maureen Smith and Carol (Murray) Brocklehurst; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and her three siblings Margaret Lockyer, Muriel Kinley and Tom (Margaret) Richardson. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold; and son-in-law, Martin Molloy. Kay was born in Winnipeg on August 1, 1924 to Arthur and Maude Richardson and remained here all of her life. She married Harold after the Second World War and they led an active life together until his passing in 1993. She loved curling, playing bridge, gardening, knitting, baking, travelling and volunteering at St. George's, but most of all, she loved her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren held a special place in her heart and her family was her proudest accomplishment. At family gatherings or when looking at photos she would always say "look what we started!". She left a legacy of love that we will treasure forever. A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 9, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at St. George's Anglican Church, 168 Wilton Street. Flowers are gratefully declined. If friends desire, donations in Kay's memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6 or Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7. The family extends special thanks to the amazing staff at the River Park Gardens for their wonderful care and compassion for our Mom/Grandma/GG during her last six years.
