ELIZABETH (BETTE) MACKAY (NUTTALL) A Celebration of Life was held on February 16, 2018 at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre. Starting with a Daughters of the Nile funeral service to honour her. Rev Carol Fletcher officiating. Peacefully, and surrounded by family members, in the early hours of February 12, 2018 at Extendicare Oakview Place, Bette went to meet who is waiting for her on the other side at the age of 88 years. Waiting to greet her, are her parents Bill (1973) and Agnes (1987) Macaulay, her brother Stuart (1973) Macaulay, her grandson Jared (2012) McKnight, and her husband Bob (2006) Mackay. Forever missing her are her children, Ken (Carol) Cornett, Ted Nuttall, Eric (Carol) Nuttall, Lori (Larry) Scott; former husband George Nuttall; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, two nieces and one nephew. Bette joined Daughters of the Nile in February 1960 and rose to Queen in 1972. She enjoyed the 58 years of making lifelong friendships while raising money for the kids of the Shrine Hospital in Montreal. In 1997 Bette retired from the now Fairmont Hotel in the Accounting Department after 18 dedicated years. She enjoyed travelling with Bob until his untimely death in 2006. She continued to take smaller bus trips while doing "hotel inspections". Interment to take place at a later date. A special thank you to the staff at Oakview for their care of Mom.
