Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryERNST PETER SCHELL May 3, 1932 - February 9, 2018 It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our very brave and devoted husband and father, Ernst Peter Schell on February 9, 2018, at St. Boniface Hospital. Ernst is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Norma, his son and best friend Paul, his amazingly strong daughter-in-law Melissa, his very devoted daughter Gerda, and his loving sister Gerda J. Schell of Chicago. Last but not least are his beloved canine companions, Mr. Wiley, Miss Kaylee Bell, Milt and Honey. Ernst lived a wonderfully full life and had many accomplishments and successes both personally and professionally. After graduating from Kelvin High School, Ernst went to work for Great West Life. It was there that the company became very interested and impressed with his voice, and transferred him to Toronto to work as a Policy Renewal Service clerk, and made arrangements for him to be admitted to the Royal Conservatory of Music. There he spent the next four years developing his talented and beautiful voice to become a "Tenor Soloist". Upon his return to Winnipeg Ernst went to work for RBC Dominion Securities where he spent the next 50 years of his life as an investment advisor/wealth manager. It was not long before the company realized his extraordinary potential. Over a period of time he was made Vice President, Director and Partner in the firm. Ernst retired at 72 and was now free to pursue other hobbies and interests such as gardening, spending time with Norma at his beloved home in Minaki, Ontario, duck hunting, fishing and watching football. Ernst also became quite the culinary expert and enjoyed dining out with our mom. The one extravagance in his life was his membership in the Chaine des Rotisseurs. He loved the people and the exquisite cuisine. Over the years our dad made many friendships that lasted most of his life. He was a well-loved, highly respected human being, always ready to help and give of himself at any time. Our family wishes to thank the staff at Brightwater Senior Living for all their support, care and compassion. It is at this time that Paul, Gerda and Norma wish to express our gratitude for the excellent care Ernst received at both Grace and St. Boniface Hospitals. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. A celebration of Ernst's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Soul Sanctuary, 2050 Chevrier Blvd. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com

First I knew Ernie through investments, his reputation for being deeply & sincerely & selflessly caring for his clients. I was privileged for him to ask my added help for a few, some are still my clients. I got to know Ernie's brother Adolf and his wife Elsie, as involved in their communities as Ernie & Norma were. Later I joined the main Rotary Club where I heard Ernie's booming voice almost every week and his ready sense of humour. June Wells & I enjoyed visits to Norma & Ernie's cottage & their home. Like all who knew Ernie, we shall remember him very well, as will his families and Rotarians & friends and former colleagues. I look forward to donating to Ernie's favoured causes. - Posted by: Denzil FEINBERG (Rotarian & Financial Planner ) on: Feb 21, 2018

I have known Mr Ernie Schell, for many years and have a great deal of respect for him, he was honest without fault, a strong character, and a friend. There are many adjectives to describe him, always fair, charitable, kind, strong in character, wise. A true friend, and I will always miss him. - Posted by: Peter Milliner (close friend) on: Feb 20, 2018

So sorry to hear of Ernie's passing. Have many wonderful memories of our times together in the Elim Chapel Choir. The Heavenly Choir now has a remarkable tenor soloist. Thinking of you Norma, Paul and Gerda during this difficult time. - Posted by: Roberta Higdon (nee Mathieson) () on: Feb 17, 2018
