ETHEL MILLER February 16, 1928 - February 15, 2018 Ethel was born in Arborg, MB to Wilhalmina (Mina) and Alfred Miller. She was predeceased by her brothers, Arnold, (Ann), Rudy (Albertine), Oscar (Jean); a sister in infancy; niece Wendy; nephew Donald and a nephew in infancy. She is survived by sister-in-law Jean; nieces and nephews, Eric, Nancy (Michael), Bryan, Norman (Sharon), Vern (Paige), Marvin, Sherri, Daryl, Marilyn; Kevin and Bonnie (Kenny); as well as numerous great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews. Ethel loved animals and was interested in their welfare. Over the years, she adopted Sandy, Kelly, Skeezix, Cricket, Lady Jane, Pharah, Mr. Moto, Ladybird, Sneakers, Noelle, Otis, Yoshie, Pugsley, Lucy and Kato (most of them from the Humane Society). Ethel taught elementary children for 37 years in St. James and Winnipeg, as well as in rural schools. Ethel lived for travel! She visited six continents. Some of the greatest joys came from viewing the elephant herds in Botswana, admiring but keeping her distance from the Tazmanian devils, holding adorable koalas, walking on the Great Wall and viewing the Terra Cotta warriors in Xian, China, kissing the Blarney Stone, seeing the interior of King Tut's tomb, walking amongst thousands of penguins in Argentina and Falkland Islands, seeing the majestic Iguazu Waterfalls in Argentina, flying over Victorian Falls, Zambia in a helicopter, ballooning in Kenya to see giraffes and elephants, walking through Jerusalem and sailing on the sea of Galilee, sailing on the Mekong River in Vietnam, attending a church service in a cave in Turkey. Should friends desire, donations to Winnipeg Humane Society (or any animal related charity) would be appreciated. There will be no formal service at Ethel's request.
