JAMES (JIM) ARTHUR STALKER
Date of Passing: Feb 20, 2018
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAMES (JIM) ARTHUR STALKER 1952 - 2018 On February 20, 2018 Jim Stalker passed away peacefully in his home, with his wife by his side. Left to mourn his sudden death are his wife Shirley; his son Andrew (Ryan); brothers, Ken, Doug, Robert (Christine); his nieces and nephews, Karen, Brian, Leanne, Cathy, Mark; his stepchildren, Janet, Colette, June, Jason (Michelle) and over a dozen grandchildren, his best friend and neighbour Jim and friend Maria (who taught him to cultivate his love of red wine and pasta). He is predeceased by his parents, Robert and Catherine Stalker; his stepmother Iris Marguerite Stalker; and his beloved dog Angel. Several years ago Jim retired from an over 30 year long career with the Winnipeg One School Division. He took great pride in the work that he did and there he met the love of his life Shirley. His soft voice and gentle laugh helped create a wonderful feeling of community at both his workplace and in Matlock Beach where he resided with his wife Shirley. He always endeavored to make life happier for the people around him, and this was most apparent when he spent time with his son Andrew and grandkids, who he adored. Jim knew how to see the good in everyone and knew instinctively to always turn the other cheek. He was a true gentleman. We ask that in honour of Jim's kind soul, each and everyone be kind to each other. Special thanks to the Matlock and Selkirk EMTs and the Selkirk RCMP, and Wayne (Selkirk EMT) whose profound compassion and caring will never be forgotten. A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, February 26, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. in the Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church, Winnipeg Beach, MB. Condolences, pictures and videos may be left on Jim's tribute wall at www.gilbartfuneralhome.com Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements.

We are shocked and saddened by the news of Jim's death. We got to know him and Shirley as they walked (with their doggies) by our house almost every day, many times stopping for a short chat. Take comfort in knowing he loved living in this area, walking along the beach and having at least, a short time in retirement. May God comfort you, Shirley, during this most difficult time.
