AGNES GEMBEY (nee GINTER) 1927 - 2018 Peacefully, Agnes passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Bethania Mennonite Personal Care Home at the age of 90. Agnes was born in Morris, Manitoba on June 2, 1927. She grew up on a small farm in Lowe Farm, MB until the age of 16 when she moved to Winnipeg and attained employment as a live-in nanny. She met Harry after he was discharged from the army at the end of the Second World War. Agnes and Harry fell in love, were married in 1949, and raised three sons: Ken, Eric, and Barry. She was employed at Perth's Drycleaners and later at Eaton's, where she retired. Agnes enjoyed card nights with her friends, knitting, gardening and watching her three sons play hockey and many other sports. Agnes and Harry could always be found watching Hockey Night in Canada on Saturday evenings. They had numerous pets and enjoyed going for long walks with their dogs. Later, when her grandsons came along, Agnes spent many hours babysitting and taking them to the nearby park to play. Agnes was predeceased by husband Harry; her parents Peter and Maria; her brothers Peter and Henry; sisters Helen and Mary and daughter-in-law Diane. Agnes is survived by her sons: Ken (Lori), Eric and Barry (Kim); grandsons: Curtis, Matt and Scott; sisters-in-law: Stephanie and Lou; as well as nieces and nephews. The family gives special thanks to Bethania Mennonite Personal Care Home and the many volunteer staff. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Agnes' memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3. A private service will be held.
