DEAN NORMAN JOSEPH COMEAU It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Dean Comeau, on March 1, 2018. He was predeceased by his father Norman, and leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife Colleen, his mother Ida and siblings, Vernon Comeau (Joye), Charlene Broderick (Sean) and Jackie Gould (Mike), as well as Colleen's siblings, Glen Dyrda (Joan), Michele Kehler (Randy) and Chris Dyrda (Karen). As well, Dean was cherished as a loving and playful uncle by countless nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great- nephews. Born January 19, 1956 in Moncton, New Brunswick, Dean spent his early years in the Maritimes and while he relocated to Winnipeg in 1987, he never forgot his roots and was always proud of being a Maritimer. Dean had a successful 34 year career with CN and retired in 2013. Post retirement, Dean enjoyed his interest in sports, and was particularly fond of the Montreal Canadiens, with one of his prized possessions being a seat from the old Montreal Forum. He loved puttering around in his yard, as was evident by the fact that his grass was precisely trimmed and his sidewalk always freshly shovelled. His neighbours became his friends and they will miss his wide smile, his warm heart and his willingness to lend a hand. Dean will be remembered by all who knew him, as a fun loving, carefree, friendly fellow, who always had a joke or pun to share. At a family gathering, he could most often be found sitting on the floor, playing with one of the children. Sometimes, it was hard to tell who the child was and who was leading who. Dean and Colleen were true soul-mates from the moment they met. While they enjoyed their periodic travels to warmer climates, they were equally content to share each other's company and a bottle of wine in their backyard listening to music, watching the squirrels, feeding the birds and dancing under the stars. Colleen would like to extend her gratitude to Dr. Alla Kirshner for the compassionate care provided to Dean. In recognition of Dean's long and courageous struggle with mental health illness, in lieu of flowers, a donation to the Canadian Mental Health Association would be appreciated (930 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3G 0P8). A celebration of Dean's life will be held on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Dieppe Hall, Royal Canadian Legion, Henderson Highway Branch 215, 3600 De Vries Avenue (close to Henderson Highway and North Perimeter). Dean was most at home in his jeans and sneakers. In honour of that, guests are invited at their option to dress casually and comfortably. May the good Lord keep you safe in the palm of His hands and the angels watch over you. seasonsfunerals.ca

  • I am so happy that Dean found you to spend his life with. You two always had a special bond and I have wondered over the past few years how the two of you were doing. I pray that you find strength in all of your memories both the good ones and the not so good ones. They are what make us human.
