CAROLE LYNN MILLER (nee DEREUCK) October 27, 1948 - February 26, 2018 We, who were close to her, are sad to announce the passing of Carole Miller at Gimli Hospital on February 26 after a lifelong battle with cancer. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and friend to a multitude of people. Outgoing and gregarious, her main objective in life was to help others who were in need of comfort or assistance in their daily lives. Carole was born in St. Boniface, attended school there and later completed her education in 1967 at Transcona Collegiate. She married her lifelong soulmate, Terry Miller June 8, 1968, beginning a 50 year journey of mutual passion, care, and companionship. She is survived by her husband, two sisters, Jean Rawluk and Valerie Jeffrey, two awesome children, Colin Miller (Christina) and Kristy Gower (Steve); and three equally awesome grandchildren, Gemma and Heath Gower, and Hudson Miller. The latter being the current light of her life, Carole wanting desperately to attend his first birthday party March 4. Carole enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting with Terry, her father Joe and the kids, travelling to many of the lakes throughout Manitoba. In 1975 Carole and Terry went partners with her parents on a cottage building endeavour on Lake Manitoba near Moosehorn. When completed, it became a summer haven for all family members and friends. It still stands in partnership with Colin and Kristy. During her career, Carole worked as a financial manager at various locations and was an elected councillor for the R.M. of East St. Paul for a period of 12 years. She also served on the Municipal Board of Manitoba. In addition, she volunteered for 40 years with Revenue Canada preparing income taxes for low income people, students and friends. She will be remembered for her strong will, even temperament, electric personality and her desire to make new acquaintances, helping those in need of friendship and care. A celebration of her life is planned for Saturday, March 17, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Seasons Funeral Chapel, 576 Balsam Crescent in OakBank. Please drop in for a snack, share some memories and renew old acquaintances. Cremation has taken place. Interment will follow at a later date.
