I only found out today Lauren lost her mother back in March. I am so sorry to hear about this tragic loss, and my heart just aches for the entire family. I saw the beautiful picture Lauren keeps on her desk at work of her & Mom - it gave me a small glimpse into the closeness they no doubt shared. I never had the pleasure of meeting Deidre, I wish I had. Please accept my condolences. - Posted by: Joel (Co-worker of Lauren) on: Aug 23, 2019

Kim, Sean and Lauren, Beth and I were deeply saddened and we are at a loss for words when we heard of Deidre’s passing. From the day we moved into the house next door almost 26 years ago and Deidre came over to introduce herself with a plate of her famous chocolate chip cookies and a young Lauren at her side, an instant, long-lasting friendship blossomed. Despite us departing Winnipeg two short years later, our families formed a bond that will be with us until we too depart this earth. A loving wife, mother, and great friend, Deidre was one of kind. Thoughtful, generous and caring, and a smile that lit up the room. Beth often remembers the “new batch of wine” tastings on those evenings when Kim and I took to the kids to a football game, a hockey game or even WWF matches. Please know that we are thinking of you and wish we could be there with you to celebrate Deidre's life. - Posted by: Joe and Beth Becigneul (Friends) on: Mar 14, 2018

Sincerely, Deidre was a very special customer to me. I really felt she.. we.. were always able to talk heart to heart. Even in her last few visits, she was always pleasant and we were easily able to share a laugh. I am sad to loose her. I don't know why, but I just always thought she would beat her cancer. Maybe it was her modesty that tricked me. I could tell she was weak, but she always had her wits and her grace about her. I asked her once if she thought her cancer really was terminal, and she shrugged her shoulders and smiled. I'm really glad we started hugging after each visit. I know she knows I thought about her often. I'm also really glad we had fun with her hair, I cannot believe I convinced her to colour her hair PINK! It was really a great way for us to send her to treatments on her terms. It was a ton of fun that day, great memorable conversations. I hope your family didn't mind that colour. I really want to let you know how awesome we thought Deidre was! She was a very loyal supporter of my store, even buying Xmas gifts here every year. I will miss the time she would take treating herself here. It was truly our pleasure. My co-worker Jen spent more time with her during her visits; Deidre was a great listener, adding bits of honest advice about life. We will miss the connections we had with Deidre. Mr.Ridd, Sean & Lauren, sorry for your loss. And.... thank you for bringing her to her appointments. - Posted by: Golda Ferrer (Hairdresser) on: Mar 14, 2018

I met Deidre when I started babysitting Sean as a baby. Deidre was such a caring, loving mother and a wonderful giving person. She was always in my thoughts but unfortunately I lost touch with her after our kids were growing up. I wish we had more time to catch up. Thoughts and prayers are with you Kim, Sean and Lauren at this very difficult time. - Posted by: Marnie Houston (Friend) on: Mar 13, 2018

We have many wonderful memories of traveling with the ball team to various tournaments. I remember Deidre's smile the most. And trying to keep up with her walking pace, for me, was impossible. :) Our thoughts and prayers are with Deidre's family at this most difficult time. Careyn and I are both shocked and saddened with the news of Deirdre's passing. We haven't seen her in what seems like ages but we remember vividly her smile, warmth and kindness. The thought of her being taken so young is heartbreaking. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Ridd family during this very sad time. - Posted by: Bill and Careyn Head (Hockey Parents from the 90's in Southdale) on: Mar 11, 2018

Kim, so very to hear of the passing of your beautiful wife. There is nothing else to think of right now but I'll just say that you'll get up each morning and take a breath and if it doesn't hurt too much you'll take another and one day you won't have to think you'll just take it. All my thoughts are with you. Paul. - Posted by: Paul Land (Friend) on: Mar 10, 2018
