JAMES LESLIE DONAHUE It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of our dear brother, James Leslie Donahue, aged 72 years, at the Poseidon Care Home in Winnipeg on February 21, 2018. Predeceased by mother Alice Donahue, father James Donahue and brother-in-law Bert Luit, Jim is survived by sister Maria Donahue, brother Dan Donahue, nieces, Jenneke Le Moullec (Yves), Kelsey Luit (Todd) and nephew Liam Martens. Jim expressed over the course of his final days as to what an interesting life he had lived, and true to form, his words spoke volumes. A gifted musician, author and photographer, Jim was creativity personified. With a deep love for literature, music, art and philosophy, Jim shared his gifts freely; he enriched all of our lives profoundly and inspired a generation of folk musicians both in Winnipeg and throughout the world. We would like to acknowledge the support of everyone through this difficult time and extend personal thanks to Jen Funk who was there when Jim needed it most; Bobby Starr, and Richard Condie whose lifelong friendships with Jim meant everything to him, Dr. O'Keeffe at the St. Boniface Hospital, longtime friend Margaret Camera and the staff at the Poseidon home who took such wonderful care of Jim during his time in their care. A celebration of Jim's life will take place come spring and will be announced shortly. "May the longtime sunshine, always surround you and the pure light within you, guide your way home." • Met Jim back in the 70's - at the Ting coffeehouse on Broadway at Spence. Used to run into him over the years and we always had a nice chat. Saw him perform with Bobby Starr at the tribute for Bobby at the West End CC. It was wonderful. Jim was a kind and gentle man, a great musical talent. God bless him.
