Janet was born on July 28, 1928 and grew up on the Pott family farm in Roseau River, Manitoba. She moved to Winnipeg in 1947 where she worked as a waitress in the Eaton's cafeteria. In the summer of 1948 Janet met Nels. They were married on June 14, 1952, residing on the family farm in Meadows. In 1966 they sold the family farm and moved to St. James in Winnipeg. From there they moved to Rosser in 1970, where they lived 35 years, eventually moving back to Winnipeg to the Courts of St. James in 2005, at the start of their retirement years. Janet worked at several careers over her life after her farming years, a catalogue order desk clerk with Sears, a telephone operator at Duffy's taxi, and clerical positions with Hudson's Bay Northern Stores and Motorways Trucking. In 2011 Janet and Nels moved into an assisted living apartment at Sterling House, Winnipeg. In the summer of 2014 Janet's health deteriorated and she moved to Golden Door Geriatric Centre where she remained until her death. Janet enjoyed many leisure activities during her life and was an avid curler, bowler and enjoyed playing cards and bingo. She also enjoyed her many bus trips with friends to various casinos in Canada and the northern U.S.A. We would like to thank the staff at Golden Door Geriatric Centre for the passionate and excellent care. A funeral service will be held at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 600 Cambridge St., Winnipeg MB at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 12, 2018 with viewing prior to the service. Interment to follow at Brookside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mark's Lutheran Church Memorial Fund. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com
