Mom was born September 28, 1924, the second child of Fred and Tessa of Grandview, MB. At two years old Mom moved to Hartney, MB where her father, an electrician, operated the power plant. Here she gained her education grades one to eleven. She took six years piano lessons from Minnie Buckley. Mom played piano with the Mission Band and the United Church Sunday School. Mom also played trombone in the High School marching band. In 1942 Mom moved with her family to St. Vital and attended Glenlawn Collegiate to take her grade 12 and delivered the Valedictory Address in 1943. Mom volunteered her musical talent to play piano with a group of senior musicians and became the leader of the Senior Melody Group until 2013. The group played for hundreds of shut ins at Personal Care Homes. Mom enjoyed a good laugh and had a joke for every occasion. A private family service will be held at a future date. Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • Firstly my most sincere condolences to the entire Line family. I miss you all. I have sooo many fond memories of Doris (& Dick et al) growing up. Doris was always so happy to have my Mom & Dad (Norma & Vern Reese) and us kids over at their home, their cottage, and came to our home regularly. I just recently bought myself a 50's style kitchen table (like they used to have) as I so much remember playing under Doris' while the "old people" visited. The visits to the cottage - unforgettable. Dick of course was our family barber and not only did we all go there for cuts, the cuts were also delivered to our home. I recall Doris and Edith coming to Mom & Dad's and they always picked beautiful bouquets of Mom's sweet peas to take with them. Then when Mom no longer lived there we planted the sweet peas at my home and Doris came and picked those too. Her smile and love of all of us was wonderful to grow up with. • I will always have fond memories of your mom. She loved the hand and body silk lotion and whenever I dropped off her order, we would chat and she would tell me jokes and I would share some of mine. She always talked fondly about her family. Your mom was a very happy, caring & loving lady. I will miss our conversations. I am so sorry for your loss of your precious mother, grandmother & great-grandma. One thing for sure our memories of her will never fade. May God bless you and comfort you in your loss. Warmly, Marie - Posted by: Marie Virtue (Aloette Client) on: Mar 14, 2018

  • Wishing the family of Doris Line deepest sympathy on the death of their mother, grandma, and great-grandma. Doris made a huge contribution during her many years as the Director of the Seniors Melody Group to the lives of not only those we entertained, but also those of us who played with her. Doris was a "fun" lady and will be missed by many. - Posted by: Mac McCorquodale (Member of Seniors melody Group) on: Mar 11, 2018

  • I will always remember card games and treats with Grandma Line at the cottage in Rush Bay. May she rest in peace with Grandpa Line. Love and condolences to the Line family. May many good memories carry you through the toughest times. With love and support from the Masniuk family. - Posted by: Sandy (Family friend) on: Mar 10, 2018

  • Linda and I were very saddened to learn of your Mom's passing. What a special lady she was, always a joke to tell and a song to sing. We know how hard today is but you have so many wonderful memories of a truly one of a kind lady. Love Bob & Linda - Posted by: Bob MacDonald (Family friend) on: Mar 10, 2018
