MARGARET ANNIE VEALE (nee GAMBLE) On March 6, 2018 Margaret Annie Veale (nee Gamble) passed away peacefully in her sleep at River East Personal Care Home at the age of 90. Mom was predeceased by her loving husband Lloyd Thomas, her sister May Fraser, brother-in-law Gus Fraser, her brother George Gamble, sister-in-law Dorothy Gamble, as well as her parents, Charles and Mary Gamble and in-laws, Archie and Lula Veale. She is survived by her loving daughter Judith Elder, (Brian) and son Richard (Karen) Veale, grandchildren, Pamela Elder, Leanne (Michael) Sanders, Jordan (Leslie) Veale and great-grandchildren, Rylan and Poppy. Mom was a hard working individual who was also very active in the community. Throughout her life she participated in many groups and activities with the Kildonan Seniors on Henderson Highway, Square and Round dancing, for which she sewed many of her own dresses, St. Saviors Church Women's League, the Red Hat Society and her Bridge group. Mom belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star, Jeptha Chapter for 60 years and was twice Worthy Grand Matron. If ever assistance was needed all you had to do was ask and she'd be there. Mom loved to be around people, visiting, helping at fundraisers, (many folks have afghans or slippers made by Grandma's "got to keep busy" hands), volunteering or visiting the sick, babysitting, going for walks and had many friends both here and from her and Lloyd's many travels in North America and abroad. She loved to host family, friends and visitors from within Canada or abroad, especially from Ireland. She was faithful to her roots as an Irish lass and kept in touch with relatives in Ireland and England. In recent years Margaret's joie de vivre was diminished when she developed Alzheimers. We choose not to dwell on mom's later years, even after a stroke stopped her visiting, when her outward appearance was changed but the spark that was her, could be seen in the twinkle in her eyes, and hard won smile, especially if there was music and singing. We thank God for that spark and know her legacy will live on through us all as we savour collective memories. Please come and join us to celebrate her life in prayer and song at St. Saviour's Anglican Church, 690 Munroe Ave. on Monday, March 12 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba or the building fund of St. Saviors Anglican Church.
