JUDITH (JUDY) BERNICE EMES It is with profound sadness that the family of Judy Emes announces her passing, Monday, March 12, 2018 after a courageous but brief fight with cancer, in Gimli, MB. Judy was predeceased by her parents, Reinhardt (Sandy) and Martha Kuhn, River Hills; and her in-laws, Bruce and Margery Emes of Gimli, Manitoba. Judy is survived by her beloved husband Don Emes; daughter Teri Chaychuk; son-in-law Dennis Chaychuk and cherished grandchild Chelsey Chaychuk of Lloydminister, Alberta. Also by her sister Bonnie Zabrocki; brother-in-law Dave Zabrocki and nephew Reinhardt Zabrocki, of Calgary, Alberta; brother Terry Kuhn and sister-in-law of Pauline Kuhn and family of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Judy was born May 29, 1951 in Whitemouth and was raised on the family farm in River Hills. During their 47 year marriage, Judy enjoyed a successful award winning career as a professional Realtor. She took pride in her work and her greatest reward was when she could help clients achieve their real estate goals. Judy loved many things, nature's bounty and beauty, the rural lifestyle, working with people and her passion for gardening. Don's career with Manitoba Natural Resources meant many relocations thru out the province, a high priority at each new home was a garden and flower beds. Judy had to have a bounty of fresh veggies and flowers for her home. Their retirement home on the shore of Lake Winnipeg became her pride and joy. Judy loved to travel and in 2016 went to Greece and the Mediterranean Islands with Teri, fulfilling her dream mother and daughter vacation. Ten years ago Judy volunteered for the Manitoba Ride for Dad fundraiser, and over the years Judy and her poker card crew were a highlight of the annual motorcycle run to Gimli. If desired, donations can be made in Judy's name to CancerCare Manitoba, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Manitoba Ride for Dad. The family invites Judy's friends to an informal celebration of her life, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Friday, March 16 at the New Horizons Centre, 17 N. Colonization Road in Gimli. Condolences, photos and videos may be left on Judy's tribute wall at www.gilbartfuneralhome.com Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements.

  • My deepest sympathy to Don and family. I don't even know how long I've known Judy; it seems like forever - she was always just "there" and always a favoured colleague. Judy was warm, friendly and from my perspective a good, hard-working Realtor with integrity and intelligence, who put her clients first. I will miss bumping into Judy in Gimli., (which always seemed to happen every few months). Ginny Brown - Posted by: Ginny Brown (Friend & Colleague) on: Mar 19, 2018
