SHIRLEY MARGARET SPRING Peacefully, with family by her side, we announce the passing of our beloved mother Shirley Spring, aged 79 years, of Pine Dock on March 14, 2018. Mom leaves to mourn her children Ron (Inga), Shelley (Donnie) and Sandra (Steve). She also leaves seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren all of whom she cherished deeply, also left to mourn are her brothers John (Joan) and George (Shirley); her special friend Marge, as well as numerous other relatives and friends. Shirley was predeceased by her husband Harry; son Calvin; parents William and Louise Selkirk; brothers Sandy and Chuck; sister Pollyanne, and son-in-law Derrick. Mom was born in Pine Dock on August 15, 1938. She attended school in Pine Dock and Matheson Island. She taught school in Gladstone for one year before marrying Dad in 1959. They began their life together living in the Washow Bay area until moving to Pine Dock in 1973. Mom was a community Health Care worker for 20 years. Pine Dock was her life until health issues no longer allowed her to remain living at home. She resided at the Icelandic River Lodge in Riverton for the past two years. Mom proudly organized the Terry Fox Run from 1983 to 2011. Over the years Mom also helped host many winter carnivals in her home community. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at the lodge as well as staff at Arborg Hospital for all the care shown to Mom during her stay. Also a special thank you to Cathy Cook for her continuous support to our family. A service to celebrate Shirley's life will be held at the Pine Dock Community Hall on Monday, March 19, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. with interment to follow at Pine Dock Cemetery. Her pallbearers will be her six grandsons, Corey, Nathan, Dale, Matthew, Jeremy and Dalton. Honorary pallbearers will be Braidon and Kevin. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mom's memory to the Terry Fox Foundation.
