VICTOR SIGURDUR BELL Peacefully, on March 13, 2018, surrounded by the love of his family, Victor went to his eternal rest. He is survived by his children, Linda Paluck, Faye (Alfie) Schalk, Merv (Lynda) Gunter, Dawn Papineau, Tricia (Al) Geurts and Terry Gunter; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Victor was born at Hecla, Manitoba, on May 2, 1936, to Ernest and Lovisa Bell and had four sisters and seven brothers. He spent his early years at Hecla, moving to Selkirk to continue school and go on to work. He worked in commercial fishing on Lake Winnipeg, Hay River and Fort McMurray as well as at the Selkirk Steel Mill and Drummond McCall. In 1965, Vic married the love of his life, Irene (Bell) Gunter, and inherited a ready-made family of six. Victor loved to play piano and guitar and hosted many sing-alongs. He and Mom spent many happy years together, working on their house and yard, spending time with family and friends, camping and fishing, and travelling, but mostly just being together. Victor was a great dad, always there when we needed him. He was a very special grandpa to all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; he loved them dearly and enjoyed entertaining and playing with them. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at Gilbart Funeral Home in Selkirk, MB on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Living Selkirk, 306 Jemima Street, Selkirk, MB R1A 1X1. Condolences, pictures and videos may be left on Victor's tribute wall at www.gilbartfuneralhome.com

  • Uncle Victor was a legend ! He could play anything to make music! His guitar playing inspired my to play guitar. When I was a young boy , uncle victor and auntie Irene would come over for supper to mom and dads I would run to my room and get my guitar out of the closet and get a bread clip and watch and listen in amazement and he would sing and play for hours He always had a big smile and never had a bad word to say about anything. Will miss his warm manners and his great sense of humour!! “”(See you later my boy)”” Thank you for all the great times and memories! Till we meet again. - Posted by: Laurie Dear (Nephew ) on: Mar 18, 2018
