Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHELEN JANZEN Peacefully, on March 9, 2018, our Mother and Omi passed away, with family by her side. She was predeceased by Henry, her beloved husband of 53 years, sister Alvina, and brothers, Martin and George. Helen was born April 16, 1925 in Gruenfeld, Ukraine to Martin and Helene Dyck. She is survived by son Victor (Mary); daughters, Ellen (Ed), Ollie (Gene) and Karen; grandchildren, Gina (Jason), Kristal-Lynn, Layna (Geoffrey), Whitley, Caelin, Carleigh, Nick and Jack (Leyla); as well as nine great-grandchildren, her brother Victor (Shirley); and sister Anne. Mom loved her family above all else and Omi always had time to babysit and entertain her grandchildren. Mom was a great cook and she and Dad were wonderful hosts holding most family dinners. Everyone always felt welcome in their home. Helen loved her work at Health Sciences Centre and didn't retire until she was 68. Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to Mom's caregiver and friend, Donna as well as the staff at Bethania Personal Care Home. Their loving care, especially in her last days, was appreciated more than words can say. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Helen's name to Bethania Personal Care Home, 1045 Concordia Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2K 3S7 or to a charity of your choice. A celebration of her life will be held on March 19, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. (Viewing at 10:00 a.m.) at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3H 1B9 NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com

I worked with Helen for many years at Children’s Home. I remember her as being kind, patient and loving to the children and her colleagues. The picture is exactly how I remember her, always with a smile. She was an excellent cook, who can forget her lasagna, I have her recipe but it never tasted the same, hers was always made with so much love. My condolences to all of you, she always spoke so proudly of her kids, I felt I knew you too. - Posted by: Allie Boardman (Co worker) on: Mar 17, 2018
