MEL MCGUIRE January 9, 1927 - March 17, 2018 It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Melville "Mel" Graham McGuire passed away peacefully in the early morning on March 17, 2018, in Winnipeg, at the age of 91, surrounded by loving family. Mel was preceded by his beloved wife of 59 years, Elizabeth "Ann" McGuire. He is survived and will be dearly missed by his three children, Gwen (Terry) Connor, Ruth (Gene) Manzer, and Gerald (Val) McGuire. Also left to mourn are his four grandchildren, Shannon (Trevor) Raymack, Cortney (Jason) Hart, and Brendan and Riley McGuire, as well as his four great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mel had a long and happy life, working for the Canadian Pacific Railway for over 40 years as a pipefitter, and also running a hotel in Minto, Manitoba. He had fond memories on the ice with the Seals Hockey Team, and was an avid sports fan, always cheering for the Bombers and Jets. Mel also loved camping, swimming, and soaking up the sunshine in Grand Beach and elsewhere. In the winter, he loved ice-fishing after a side-saddle snowmobile ride. He enjoyed the company of his dogs, cats, and lovebird throughout his life. Mel was also a longtime member of the Army and Navy 283, where he would socialize and play shuffleboard with fellow members. The family would like to thank the staff at Extended Care Oakview Place for their dedication, especially Natalie, Michael, And Trish. A funeral is scheduled for Monday, March 26 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage Avenue, with a reception to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Mel's life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to CancerCare Manitoba. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book, please visit www.chapellawn.ca. Chapel Lawn Funeral Home 204-885-9715

I remember the times we visited the Minto hotel , and Uncle Mel and Auntie Ann worked extremely hard cooking in restaurant and chatting with customers. Hockey and football was a passion Uncle Mel shared with my brother Dave. When I came into Winnipeg during my younger years I always made effort to visit Mel and Ann with my mother. It is sad to see the last of my Aunt and now Uncle passing on. My deepest Sympathy to all. Wes and Marianne - Posted by: Wesley, Marianne & Kristopher Woytowich (Nephew, Niece) on: Mar 26, 2018
