ANNA (ANNE) MARIE BJORNSON (nee VAN WALLEGHEM) On Sunday, March 18, 2018, Anne passed away peacefully at the Gimli Betel Home. Anne is survived by her daughter Lorraine (John); sisters, Helen and Bertha; grandchildren, Renée, Sean, Warren, Sandra and Keith; great-grandchildren, Brooke, Aden, Cassandra, Renelle, Grant and Jasmine; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Kjartan; daughter Sheila; son David; father Alfred; mother Charlotte; and brothers, Edward, Charlie, George and Henry. Anne was born in Whitemouth in 1923. She lived in Arborg until she moved to Gimli in 1959. Anne was a cook and dietitian at Gimli Betel for 23 years until she retired at 65. She was a member of the Gimli Lutheran Church and the Legion where she worked funerals for many years. Anne loved painting and did many beautiful pictures. She gave each of her children and grandchildren a painting. She loved gardening, puzzles and darts at New Horizons. She also loved knitting. In summer you could always find her in her garden. Many thanks to Betel Home staff for their excellent care. A memorial service will he held on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the Gimli Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba. Condolences, pictures and videos can be left on her tribute wall at www.gilbartfuneralhome.com. I worked with her in the kitchen and it always was a fun day when she was cooking. I had run into her a few times at the store a while back and we chatted for a bit, she still had her sense of humour that I remember from back in the 80's.
