ROBERT KENNEDY DOTT 1941 - 2018 It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) Dott, on March 22, 2018, in Winnipeg, at the age of 76. Bob was born to Jean and Malcolm Dott in Winnipeg, where he lived his whole life and was proud of his Manitoba roots. Bob was the eldest of four sons, Bob, Bill, David and Dan. He grew up in River Heights, attending school at Queenston, River Heights and Kelvin, graduating in 1959. His first job, which he did for many years, was delivering the Winnipeg Tribune in his neighbourhood. As a young man he was a talented musician, taught by his maternal grandmother and an avid curler. Bob curled at The Granite Curling Club, where he has remained a lifetime member and at the Charleswood Curling Club, having lived most of his life in the Charleswood community. He curled with many good friends over the years, most notably his father, brothers Bill and Dan, and close friend and skip Brian Holmes. Bob attended both the Universities of Winnipeg and Manitoba, studying geology, but he ultimately pursued a successful career in the insurance industry. He began his career at Armstrong & Taylor, moved through Reed Shaw Stenhouse and then went on to own two independent insurance brokerage firms in Winnipeg: MKG Insurance Services on Roblin Boulevard and later, Westport Insurance Services on Portage Avenue. Bob was a Chartered Insurance Broker in the province of Manitoba and a Fellow of the Insurance Institute of Canada. Bob always enjoyed the outdoors, especially his cottage at Fox Lake, ON, where he has spent many summers over the years, enjoying the lake, his cottage friends and time with family. Another special place was Cocoa Beach, FL, where he vacationed every winter and enjoyed visits with his daughters and their families. Bob enjoyed a good card game, teaching his daughters and grandchildren to play cribbage and hearts. The family games were always spirited and filled with laughter. Most of all, Bob was happiest outside enjoying the sunshine, no matter the temperature. Bob will be remembered by his family and friends as an independent, hard-working man, who adored his daughters and grandchildren and was always ready to lend a helping hand. Bob was predeceased by both of his parents and younger brother David. Bob will be dearly missed by his daughters, Dawn Dott (Kirby Nicholson) and Dyana Dott (JC Bawa), and their mother Marlene Dott, all of Calgary, AB; his grandchildren, Wesley, Shona, Chloe and Maya; his partner Irene Duncan; his brother William (Karen); niece Melanie and nephew Christopher and their families; his brother Daniel (Fay); nephews, Garrett and Patrick; and niece Makenna. The family would like to thank the staff at Grace Hospital for their excellent care and compassion in his final days. In lieu of flowers, if friends so choose, donations may be made to the Grace Hospital Foundation at gracehospitalfoundation.ca. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 20 at 2:00 p.m. at the Anavets Assiniboia ANAF Unit #283, 3584 Portage Ave. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit www.chapellawn.ca Chapel Lawn Funeral Home 204-885-9715
