DARREN TURNER 1967 - 2018 Robert "DARREN" Lindsay Turner passed away, with his family by his side, on March 27, 2018 after a fierce and courageous battle with kidney disease. Darren was born May 31, 1967 in Winnipeg. Darren will be sadly missed but forever loved and adored by his wife and soul mate of 23 years, Shawna (Boen) Turner; son Devyn Turner; daughter Lindsay Turner; mother Marie Turner; sister Dawn Turner (Don Thomson); sister-in-law Sandra (Rick) Henault and niece Isabel Henault. Left to cherish Darren's memory are his very special uncles and aunts Doreen (Milt) Brown, Sam (Gladys) Lovallo, Rick (Vini) Lovallo and Mildred Turner (John LePage); his loving cousins Craig (Jennine) Brown, Cindy LoPresti, Monique (Brian) Light, Dana Lovallo (Dave Freedman) and their families; and his close friends who were always there. He was predeceased by his father Robert J. Turner; his grandparents Sam and Mary (Pasta) Lovallo and Lindsay and Helen (Faraci) Turner; and his uncle and aunt Vince (Gail) Lovallo. Darren worked at W.H. Escott as the Director of Packaging for over 20 years until the nature of his illness precluded him from working. He earned considerable respect in his profession and developed close relationships with colleagues and customers alike that fostered many lasting friendships. Darren was not only a friend, but a great coach and a mentor. He was a man's man, charming to a fault, a true and loyal friend, and totally devoted to his family. Darren had a love of music, movies, horses, dogs, computers and gaming, passing much of this love of these interests onto his daughter Lindsay. He was a guy who had several nicknames, the most notable being Coach, Tiger or Man from his father or as his uncles lovingly called him, Turkey. Football was a not only a passion but a way of life for Darren who played for the Rods, was scouted, and coached many young men in the sport over his years (Rods and Broncos). Darren's football knowledge and love for the game was immeasurable and he shared it with everyone as passionate for football as he was. As well, he coached hockey where he applied his coaching skills that fostered more friendships. Darren's greatest joy in life was coaching his son Devyn whether on the gridiron or on the ice. Darren's joy filled laugh and quick wit will be missed in the Bronco community, by coaches, kids, board members and all who knew him. The Broncos Football community expressed they were blessed to have him with their club and the Broncos will be eternally grateful for his service. Through these sports activities Darren gathered many wonderful people in his life, many who became his dearest friends and members of the 'family'. He had served on many special committees for Football Manitoba and recently joined the Winnipeg Rifles Football Board to continue on in the sport he so loved. Darren, your death will not stop our love - only deepen it. Now take the field... Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • My condolences to the Turner Family, his close friends and anybody who knew Darren. Darren was always a good teammate and friend. There are too many stories to tell on here about him, and there are many!! I respected his knowledge of football, we recently had a bantering back and forth on Facebook about the Bombers, the end result was to agree to disagree! In any case I apologize for not being able to make it and pay my respects. Rest in peace Darren! Till we meet again... - Posted by: Cameron Ducharme (friend, ex teammate) on: Apr 05, 2018

  • Condolences to the Family on your loss of your partner and father. Although I only met him briefly during the hockey season, as our sons played together on the Rangers Team this year, it was a pleasure, he had a very kind and out going spirit. He was very respectful and brought laughter to the team and parents. Keeping you all in our prayers and thoughts, may creator reach you all and give you the strength to get through this very difficult time. • We are so very sorry for your loss. Darren will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of cheering with him at our kids hockey games.
