ALBERT BOOTH Entered into the presence of his Lord and Saviour on March 29, 2018 at the Tudor House Personal Care Home, Frederick Albert Booth, aged 88 years of Selkirk, MB. Albert was born in Regina, Saskatchewan on May 9, 1929, the only son of Charles and Marian Booth. He lived in Winnipeg from 1937 to 1939 and attended Queenston, Mulvey and Riverview Schools during that time. The family then moved to Victoria, BC where Albert grew up. He joined the Air Force in 1950 and, after a medical discharge in 1955, went north to Fort Churchill, where he worked first for National Defence and then Public Works Canada for a total of nearly 20 years. In 1975 he was transferred to Yellowknife, NT, where he continued his employment with Public Works Canada until his retirement in 1985, at which time he moved to Selkirk, MB, where he resided until his demise. In 1976 Albert married the former Lois Lillian Hemmelman, missionary to France under Baptist Mid-Missions. In 1978 Albert and Lois became involved in child-fostering and fostered a total of 22 children - 14 boys and 8 girls. One girl, Joanne, they adopted in 1985 at age 20. Albert and Lois were actively involved with the Selkirk Gospel Chapel and the Manitoba Foster Family Association, also with the Association for Community Living. Albert also enjoyed foreign travel. As well as extensively touring Canada and the USA, he visited England, France, Germany, Italy, Greece, Cyprus, Lebanon, Israel, Australia, the former Soviet Union, Hong Kong, China, Vietnam and Mozambique. He was predeceased by his mother in 1973, his father in 1987, daughter Joanne Lester of Claresholm, AB in 2002 and his wife Lois in 2010. He is survived by one foster daughter Lisa Bergen of Selkirk, son-in-law William (Juliana) Lester of Stavely, AB and several cousins. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 3 at 10:00 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk with interment to follow in the St. Clement's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Faith Bible Camp.
