ROBERTO DE THOMASIS

November 16, 1980 - March 24, 2018

It is with deep sadness and heartache that we announce the sudden passing of Roberto De Thomasis on Saturday March 24, 2018.

Roberto ("Bobby") will always be loved and his fondest memories will be held dear to the hearts of his family, parents Salvatore and Lidia; his sisters, Clarita (Rae) Annalisa, Silvana (Gene), Fabrizia (Ed) and Sabrina; brothers Mauro (Amira) and Enrico; nephews; Zachary, Alesandro, Caleb, Adrian, Jaedan and Nieces Katiana and Ella.

Roberto was predeceased by his older brother Riccardo.

Roberto was a tradesman by heart and gave 110% into his work and endeavours. He graduated top of his class from Red River College receiving his Diploma with Honours in the Apprenticeship Construction Electrician program.

He went onto become a licensed electrical contractor and put plans in motion to run his own business; Paragon Power Solutions Inc. A fitting name as he was a meticulous electrician with a high level of workmanship. He loved his trade and always strived for excellence and perfection in his work.

In his younger years, Roberto had fun getting into mischief with his friends. He enjoyed playing sports was an avid rugby player and boxer.

Roberto adored his nephews and nieces and always found time to spend quality time with them.

He will leave a huge void in our lives, but he will be forever in our hearts.

A private family funeral service and entombment will be held on Monday, April 9, 2018 at Green Acres Funeral Home and Cemetery.

Roberto will be laid to rest in peace alongside his brother Riccardo.

  • I am truly sorry to hear of Bobby's passing. Bobby was a great guy and always funny in class. A good person to know and a privilege to call a friend. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. • Bobby and I were in school together from kindergarten and graduated together. He was definitely a mischievous guy who got in trouble often but was such a genuinely nice guy. I always remember in junior high he took Mr Cotter’s remote for his stereo so whenever Bobby got kicked out of class (which seemed to be often haha) he had the remote on him. Whenever one of the students would walk by the stereo he turned up the volume full blast and Raffi would be screaming from the speakers! The unfortunate student would get in trouble for turning up the volume and you can see Bobby outside of the classroom laughing his ass off lol! Of course that’s one of many things he used to do. I’ve thought of him over the years and I’m saddened this is my update. My deepest condolences to the family. He is such a memorable person and I’m so glad to have known him at one point in my life. Rest In Peace Bobby De - Posted by: Jerilynn Habon (Former classmate/old friend) on: Apr 03, 2018

  • Bob was a friend who helped me through some difficult times. He was an ingenious character, especially when it came to pranks (which we did a lot of). He excelled as an electrician. He could always find unique ways to solve problems. He liked to climb things and had no fear. We were friends for many years, and I'm sad he is gone. I have so many great memories, too many to list here. - Posted by: Greg (Friend) on: Apr 03, 2018

  • Bobby was one of my dearest, longest friends. He and I attended Vincent Massey Collegiate and South Winnipeg Technical Centre together. We would car pool to school, hangout every night and on weekends and were very close. From getting into mischief, staying out late, we were best friends. When I joined the military and was posted out to 4 Wing Cold Lake he made the trip with my wife and I at the time. He helped us settle in, unpack and prepare for our new life; that's what a stand-up guy Bobby was. We would keep touch over the years. I would visit Winnipeg and we would go to our favorite Chinese Restaurant together and catch up on past times. You were an amazing friend Bobby, I'm going to miss you brother. Many Blessings to you and your Family. Cheers, Ray Cowell - Posted by: Raymond Cowell (Friend) on: Apr 02, 2018

  • My heartfelt condolences to Sabrina & family on the loss of your beloved brother and son. Although I did not know Robert, I worked with Sabrina at St.Amant and she talked often about Robert and how much she loved him. Thoughts and prayers are with you Sabrina, and with your family - Posted by: Peter Duff (Friend ) on: Apr 02, 2018

  • My heart breaks on your very sad news on the loss of Bobby. My heart also broke when I had come back from overseas to learn of your loss of Riccardo. The boys were a favourite of mine. Bobby with his sense of fun and " impish" ways. Riccardo the quiet , gentle one. I have never forgotten them. My deepest sympathy for the family. You will all be remembered in my thoughts and prayers. " May God hold you in the Palm of His Hand." ( An Irish Blessing.).
