LUCIEN (LOU) BERGERON
Born: Dec 15, 1925
Date of Passing: Apr 15, 2018
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLUCIEN (LOU) BERGERON December 15, 1925 April 15, 2018 It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our dear husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. "Lou" passed away at the age of 92 years young. He was predeceased by 10 of his 12 siblings and his beloved son Raymond, and great- grandson Jeremiah. Left to carry on his legacy is his wife Florence; sons, Glen (Valerie), Ken, Paul (Lori); grandchildren, Erin, Bryan, David, Tammy, Arielle and Raymond; great- grandchildren, Chumani, D'Allin, Tina and Aurora, and cherished nieces and nephews, too numerous to mention. Lou was a self-made man who made his mark in the construction industry. He is responsible for the hands on construction of a great many bridges throughout Manitoba. In 1968, he established Bergeron Construction, one of the first companies specializing in small front-end loaders to uniquely dig basements under existing houses. Some of the more noticeable projects he worked on were the Symington yards "hump", Fort Richmond Collegiate track, Portage and Main underground mall, the theatre at Polo Park and the Midtown Bridge. Upon "retirement", he designed and manufactured boat ramps, installed at many cottages throughout Manitoba and Ontario. The design is now the basis for many a boat ramp company today. Lou's three favourite places were Bird River (on est tu bien a Bird River!), Paradise Village in St. Anne, Manitoba and The Grove in San Juan, Texas. His favourite time was 4:00 p.m. (Happy Hour!!). He and Florence were two peas in a pod. As the ultimate social animals, they were always surrounded by friends and family. The seven brothers were especially prone to shenanigans whenever two or more of them got together. It is those friendships that most assuredly extended both the quantity and quality of his life. He so loved and was proud of his family. There was never a project too big or too small that was not deserving of his time and attention. His keen eye for levelling concrete and bricks and welding came in handy on many occasions. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Family Church, 778 Archibald St., Winnipeg, MB. The family would like to extend the deepest gratitude for the most caring of care by the doctors and staff at the St. Anne's Hospital. For the last six months it became his home away from home and you were all family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or the Canadian Cancer Foundation. Glen, Val & family we are saddened to hear of your father's (grandfather's) passing. I only met your Dad once or twice and found him to be a real gentleman, my Dad thought highly of him as well. It's written he worked hard and reaped the benefits of a long and deserved retirement. My deepest condolences to you Madame Bergeron and Glen, Ken and Paul and all other family members. I have always loved Lou which I used to call dad. He was always telling funny jokes. When I was pregnant with David he would always tell me that the popcorn should have been popped before I ate it. Lol. - Posted by: Gisele Laurin (Ken exwife) on: Apr 18, 2018

Leona and I are saddened to learn of the loss of your father. Glen, we have known Val and you for many years, but we only met your father once, at a birthday celebration for Val. I found him to be one who was very friendly, relaxed, and easy to engage in conversation. I’ve noticed such qualities in you over the years, suggesting that his legacy continues, one of his gifts to you and your family. Take care. Glen and Valerie, My deepest sympathies in the loss of your father. He lived a long accomplished life that I imagine crossed paths with my family’s (Vieville Movers) building moving (and raising) business. May your memories give you peace and the many docks you see bring a smile each time you see them. Darlene Asselstine - Posted by: Darlene Asselstine (Friend of Fitness to Glen) on: Apr 17, 2018

Deepest sympathies to the Bergeron Family. I fondly remember Lou as a very friendly, happy go lucky man. Lou and my Father (George) were always running back and forth between their two shops on Dugald Road either helping each other out, visiting or enjoying a drink together. Rest in Peace Lou. - Posted by: Penny Sys-Pugh (Friend of the Family) on: Apr 17, 2018
